There probably are some loans with penalty clauses but you see it all the time, lads from the premier league playing at League 1 etc, they are out of depth and the club have to suffer it because they cant afford to not play them. It is not good for the player.Loaning players is a quid pro quo. They get a talented player for nowt and often with heavily subsidised salary, we hypothetically benefit from their development through playing regularly
If they don’t hold up their end of the bargain then it’s not only fair enough but increasingly standard to include penalty clauses
Id be very surprised if City would take that option.
