CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2022/23

Funny thing it looks like Darren Fletcher sons have joined the Acadamy, Tyler and Jack Fletcher and their father Darren Fletcher is a coach at Man Utd

The first of a few i suspect.

Should all bring in a few extra quid.
A free transfer for Terrell Agyemang apparently, we got him on a free from Charlton and it looks like we only gave him a 12 month contract last summer. Presumably we took a chance to let him prove his worth or fitness?

Edit: He's only signed a 2 year deal with Middlesbrough.

Yeah,he never really set the world on fire but best wishes to him.

I was speaking generally in respect of the academy......from THB to Breckin and all in between.

Here are my thoughts:

THB: 10-15% chance to be a squad player perhaps. He has played in a lot of first team games at his age. If he has a good season and Vinny brings them back up, I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley buy him.
Tommy Doyle: 5% chance. Got some decent game time at Cardiff in the second half of last season but if he isn't a regular for Sheffield this season (0 minutes in 3 league games is not looking encouraging) then I assume City will look to sell in 2023.
Claudio Gomes: No chance. Too old at this point -- contract expiring at end of this season so City are probably looking to sell now or he'll walk away next summer.
Ante Palaversa: No chance. Too old, loan changes mean he'll probably need to be sold soon regardless.
James McAtee: 60% chance. Still young, will be battling Doyle for minutes presumably. Needs to get battered a bit this season to be more composed on the ball in a real world game environment.
Liam Delap: 65% chance. Contract until 2026 means he's got a long leash. If he has a great loan spell this year then maybe City cash in next summer with a buy-back clause.
Yan Couto: 35% chance -- depends on what he wants probably. Started for Girona yesterday.
Stevanovic: 25% chance? This is a tough one. Genuinely have no clue, but still very young. Probably can't get a work permit yet, missed out on the recent Serbia U21 games. Needs another loan to a top flight club somewhere this season to maybe be a consideration in 1-2 years time.
Kind of fun to circle back to this.
  • THB: I still don't think THB has a chance to make it at City but he's valued around £15m now after another strong season. One year left on his deal it looks like so City will sell this summer I'd imagine. Curious if Burnley buy him or not.
  • Tommy Doyle: After the slow start he became an integral part of their team. I tried to watch Sheffield Utd regularly due to him and McAtee and everything I saw suggests to me Tommy Doyle is a PL-level player.. just not at City most likely.
  • Gomes and Palaversa went permanently to Palermo and Troyes respectively as I expected. Palaversa basically never played for whatever reason despite Troyes being a pretty bad team.
  • McAtee came on leaps in bounds in terms of his ability to compete at a pro level. He needed to dive into the deep end and play regularly and I'm glad Cole Palmer is going to follow that path next year seemingly. 9 goals at 19-20 years old in the Championship is a really fantastic return. No surprise Pep feels like he's ready to contribute in some capacity.
  • Delap has not impressed. Striker is a tough position as a youngster so he's still got plenty of time to grow into it but the clock is ticking as far as his chances of developing into a top, top player who can make it at City.
  • Yan Couto played fairly regularly for Girona and looks to me like he's got the stuff to be a decent pro. He's played two full seasons in Spain now so he should be nearly eligible to obtain his Spanish citizenship. If he can obtain it, that would make him more valuable if City look to sell him on as Italy, France, etc. have limited slots for non-EU players. Will be curious to see if Pep gives him or Kabore a chance to impress if Walker goes.
  • Stevanovic is down to a 0% at City IMO. Didn't even play 2 full games worth of minutes at a terrible team in Portugal, a league he should be able to play every game in. The fact City didn't bother to recall him in January and find a new solution means they've written him off IMO. City will probably sell him to one of the CFG clubs this summer I suspect.
