Time to abolish the away goals rule. Absolute stupid that a team can go out drawing 3-3.
No way. It encourages away sides to come out and have a go. If we win 2-0 tomorrow night, will you say the same?

It also forces the home side to be a little negative in the first tie though because they know how costly an away goal can be, so it doesn't work both ways.

I personally think whoever scores most goes through, thats how football should work, why should you go through if you only draw?
Exactly mate.

Leverkusen didn't deserve anything, they played like Mourinho is their manager.
Yes of course. Every team should just attack all out and get beaten by the best team. Schmidt has done a great job there changing around a club with a poor mentality and had them a couple of pens away from knocking out the Spanish champions.

A bit shitty from the interviewer to Giroud i think it was not sure, nor does it matter.

What does matter was this question "Is it hard to take knowing monaco is a team you should beat".
They are not in the last 16 (quarters now) of the cl for fun you know mate, give them a bit more bloody credit you irritating man.

Every team left in will be wishing they draw Monaco!

They didn't need to play all out football but after first game score they needed one goal to pretty much seal it. But they came to play 0:0 and didn't have any intentions to attack.

It would be much worse without this rule and it wasn't introduced out of the arse but because away teams were not showing any signs of playing football.

I only watched extra time, but their tactics got them pretty close to winning and they probably had the better keeper and penalty takers. Good management is making decisions to take your team through. Atletico are the better team with the better players, were big favourites and yet he took them so close.

I rate Schmidt and what he has done at Leverkusen. If they can remain top 4 then he has had a brilliant season.

Other people are entitled to an opinion, you know. Why is every one of your posts
just to attack someone's opinion or argument.

It also makes the matches more exciting and more tactical. It's great watching a match knowing one goal can swing the result either way. Like today an Arsenal goal would have won it for them and if they hadn't scored they would have lost it. It an additional pressure to the players and means managers have to set their teams out right. Hopefully they never change this rule.

Oh indeed but the manor in which he conveyed it was very dismissive of them. It stuck out in the interview as being somewhat of a barb loaded question. Soon they will be sneering at anyone who does not win the big double each year.

He could have worded it better, "seeing your comeback and knowing your squads strength do you feel disappointed at the outcome" or similar could have asked the same question imo for example.

1:o is wonderful score and it's just stupid to defend that in 2nd game. Atletico is not that much better than them and if they were bit positive scoring goal was almost certainly meaning winning the tie. They didn't even try.
