The simulators are a laugh but they don’t take into account the mysterious TV pairings that prevent a decent amount of permutations from actually being allowed to happen in reality.
What annoys me most is all the secrecy surrounding it. Just when you’re working out what teams can go into a group, whoever is running the draw will announce ‘and only one team from that pot can go into that group’ or words to that effect.

Actually they do. You will not find Bayern and Dortmund in the same half of the pairings - as well as Real and Barcelona.

The TV pairings should be scrapped or, at the very least, Pot 1 should take precedence over a lesser qualified team, i.e. we rank higher than the Rags and they should have to fall in line behind us and not the other way round to suit the TV companies.
