champions league displays 2013-14

whate we are gonna do is fundraise on here pre-season, initialy for the 3 champions league group games next season

there is a bluemoon paypal address which we can use and individuals or MCFC supporters clubs can donate so we have all contributed to it

what we want to have is 4 or 5 ideas to run with and then we know where the money will be spent.

maybe we will have 3 different displays for the 3 games

hopefully there will be money over for any home league cup games where we aim to get branches sitting together in bigger singing groups

so, ideas welcome. we have a few months !

What are people's thoughts on the following flag idea through fund raising.

A new "surfer" flag for the legends of our club the idea I had was to get a silhouette of city legends on this to show before the big games so silhouettes of Allison, mercer, young, summerbee etc

Only a thought to be kicked around by others, but do we have an option to imitate some of the Argentinian clubs as we have the prerequisite upper and lower tiers ? (and a healthy Argentinian quota currently ?)

at this stage its collecting ideas. the most popular we can run by the club and if they ok it in principle then we can put it to a vote so people know what they are paying for

with champs league nights the ground is given over to uefa so they have been known to kick off about the size of the confetti (dortmund at home this year) which made everything we did smaller scale than previously hoped

some ideas might cost a couple of grand. some may only cost a couple of hundred quid. plenty of people on here itching to get involved. one group may say , we'll take responsibility for doing one part of the display, another group may say we'll get this and that towards it

flags on sunday looked great, we just need to get more out for the FA Cup match and get the club to allow certain areas to have flags every match. Stewards award so we can collect all flags at the end of the match, as happened on Sunday .. and we move forward with other stuff..

What about getting a big sector flag for next season? a huge flag covering one or two blocks to use at the start of matches? .. it would be a good investment as it could be used in different occasions

blue cardboards could be as well for displays, not too expensive and good to use for different matches

It would be better if we had the whole of south stand and the away fans fan fuck off to the third tier on east stand, that way we can have a whole of south stand with flags (any type- flags from Sunday or normal city flags e.g the flags that we used at wembley). The east stand should have red and black paper and the CB stand should have white and blue paper (don't know the actual name for it, but its basically our display against villareal before the match). The north end should just have a massive banner saying ''there's only one Neil young" or "we were here when he were shit" (I don't have a clue on what should be on the banner but we can talk over it and get some possible answers)

It would also help if we all bought some smoke bombs or something too add to the atmosphere.

I know it sounds like It's a lot of money, but if we all contribute and get involved, it shouldn't be so much of a problem. We could also get the community involved for instance wright Robinson high school handed out 40000+ flags to Manchester city in the carling cup against arsenal, so hopefully it isn't so much of a problem

Can we not go into moving the away fans there is a 100+ page thread somewhere discussing it and it CAN'T happen - I was trailed at 2 champions league games and it ruined the atmosphere.

Card displays may be something we can look at but it depends if we're aloud because of the paper airoplane incident last year!

thanks for good comments but also lets keep this to champs lg stuff so it's easier to collate ideas. feel free to start a new topic for new ideas or stuff for league games. at the moment we don't envisage doing stuff for every game. but let's see how the run-in goes.

Does anyone remember the derby, I think it was 07/08 season when the club gave everyone a free scarf.... Maybe something like everyone in ES level 1 gets a free scarf for a champions league game? Not sure how expensive it would be but made a cracking atmosphere for that derby (not that it wouldnt have been without them). JUST AS LONG AS ITS NOT BLOODY HALF AND HALF SCARVES!

Also, Wearethesouthstand, just an idea, but what do you think of people volunteering to carry something like the charity buckets around the groud before some games to go towards the fund? I'd happily do it, and I reckon it would get a lot more than the paypal on here?
