Agreed, but try the match day threads and post-match threads. No more than before, the top 8 go through,a bad result probably puts you out into a round of 16 knockout when depending on the draw they could get knocked out. In the old system the top 2 went through to the last 16 and teams could do that with a bad result sometimes 2, some teams scraped through with 8 or 9 points.So am I right in thinking this new format almost guarantees all the big teams are through to the last 16 eventually? Unless they massively fuck up? One of the big guns could quite conceivable go out in the old group stage, but now it's almost impossible for them to miss out?
