Champions League Draw (Shakhtar, Napoli, Feyenoord)

A quick one for anyone who has been to Naples and Napoli FC before.

1. Would you do it again?
3. Would you stay in Naples or outside it?
4. Is it worth staying there as a tourist attraction, pre and post match
5. Very mixed reviews on the safety of the city and City fans. Would looking like a tourist rather than looking like a city fan, shirt, colours, etc be safe?
6. Getting to and from the ground, back to the city centre. Is it safe and easy to do.

Thinking of going, but weighing up whether the hassle is worth it or not.

Many thanks.

1. Only if it was a knockout game.
2. What number 2? :D
3. I stayed ten minutes walk from the port area where you are bussed in and out from.
4. Couldn't tell you as I only went on the day of the game, and came back the day after, plenty around though to see, should you choose to do that.
5. I'd definitely advise not wearing colours mate.
6. Yes, they bus you in and out from the port area.

Naples itself isn't too bad, but the matchday experience is pretty horrendous.
Last time, I was on the Thomas Cook day trip, and we were bussed-in two hours before the kick off (one of those fifteen minute journey's that seemed to take an hour)
It was the same after the game, plus it's an antiquated, dangerous stadium, littered with discarded concrete and limited catering facilities.
I vowed never to go again, but once more the addiction has kicked-in.

1; yes booked again - had a brilliant time last visit
2; Staying in Naples again - this time at the port
3; Port area beforehand had loads of police and it is known as a 'safe tourist area'. Loads of things in and around Naples.
5; Napoli is not a place to wear colours
6; If you get pre-arranged buses, very safe. However, abit dodgy when you all get dropped off at port and old bill disappear!.. Spikes lot had a different experience they stayed in Sorrento and Napoli ultras turned up causing trouble. Very racist as well.

In terms of football atmospheres - one of the best in the world.
IMO well worth a visit.

1. Yes
3. In Naples, anywhere close to the Port or near the sea-front 15 mins walk to the west of the Port, there are plenty of bars and restaurants on the sea-front near the latter area.
4. Last time I went to Pompeii and would highly recommend it for a full day's visit, remembering it gets dark around 4-ish in November. It's a big place with plenty to see. There are also minibus trips available to near the summit of Vesuvius, but obviously that's dependent on the cloud cover.
5. Not advisable to wear colours anywhere away from the immediate port area, Napoli's ultras are very tribal and the rest of the city is their patch, so to speak.Dressing like a tourist should be fine, but as with most tourist cities watch out for pickpockets! Particular areas to avoid after dark are the Piazza Garibaldi, near the main train station, and the Centro Storico.
6. Well-organised and fully escorted buses leave from the Port area and drop you back there afterwards. They go a long way round to avoid going through some of the less desirable bits of Naples. As has been mentioned, it's quite late when you're dropped off which is even more reason to be staying within easy walking distance of the port.

The atmosphere in the stadium is fantastic, think Aris x 10.

For those of you thinking about going to Rotterdam for the match against Feyenoord.... don't think twice! :)

Feyenoord may not be the most succesfull club in Holland, it for sure is the biggest club in Holland. The club of the people, with millions of fans around the country and all over the world.

This is your chance, seeing on of the most epic stadiums in Europe, "De Kuip". Built in 1937, still a 50.000 seat landmark, no other stadium in Holland has this atmosphere!

Besides that, Rotterdam is a nice, modern city with good hotels, pubs and restaurants so there's really no reason for staying in the shithole called Amsterdam!

Feyenoord-supporters may not have the best reputation in Europe, we stand behind our team Always, in good days and in bad days. And we had a lot of bad days in the last 18 years ;) Finaly on may 14th, 2017 we crowned ourselves champions again for the first time in 18 years. The city exploded and millions of Feyenoord supporters all over the country went crazy :)

Have a good time in Rotterdam and I hope Feyenoord an Manchester City will be 1st and 2nd in our group!
