I traveled to Wembley from Bromley as I was stationed at RAF Biggin Hill at the time .. I traveled by tube in warm weather with my favourite Umbro shirt under a winter coat with all the Chavs... Loved it even though we lost .. My overriding memory is about Clive Wilson but I really don’t remember the game at all
 
Fuck, I was so calm whole week and quietly confident ... clock ticked midnight and first tweet I see is this ... and I’m shitting it for no reason now!


 
My son (he's 35) hasn't slept for a week thinking about the game. Today, I glazed my new greenhouse - kept me occupied, but as soon as I finished - instant sweaty palms. God knows what I'll be like 5 minutes before kick off - I'll need a drink!!

I also travelled from Biggin Hill that day, went the game with my southern Chelsea supporting brother in law. Met Rick Parfitt ( Got a drink off him) then after the game, back to the flying machine in Biggin Hill surrounded by Millwall fans who were gutted we didn’t win

Look at our line-up that night at Porto and you'll feel much better again. We didn't want to lose, the draw saved the group win.

I have zero memory of the game other than being utterly pissed off at 1-5, and leaving so I could catch the ferry back to Zeebrugge as I had work at 8 on the Monday morning, and then hearing the scoreline as we got in to Dover.

Remember walking out at 1-4 bumped into Alex Williams on the way out said he didn't blame us
