I really do love Ederson, he's as cool as you like and a wonderful passer, brilliant for PL success but year after year we are losing out in the latter stages of the CL, and I think a keeper that is better at saving shots would give us a better chance of winning that elusive trophy. We aspire to be the best team in the world, IMO there's one big reason RM won the trophy tonight and that is their outstanding goalkeeper. Swap Courtois and Ederson in the semi and we go through to the final. Swap Alison and Courtois and Liverpool win tonight.
Swap Ederson for Courtois and we’d all be asking for Ederson back after a few games.

Cry Like An Egyptian.

Of course, I’m small-minded enough to be basking in Liverpool’s salty tears today (like everyone else), but let’s consider the bigger picture for a moment. Real, who I have no great love for either while we’re about it, beat PSG, Chelsea, us and Liverpool. Undeniably impressive. History will record that they were the best team in Europe that year.
Seriously, does anyone on here actually believe that? Really?

Many times, in the past, it was actually the best team in Europe that won it. That great team of Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard is a case in point. Pep‘s Barca is another. But very often over the past twenty years I haven’t felt that the team that won has been the best. I should say that I can never be bothered with watching the final (with the obvious exception). The last time I watched it was 2005.
The club want it, our owners want it, the players want it, and not a few of our supporters want it. Fine. Each to his own.
But for myself, I can genuinely say that I’m indifferent to it.
I whole heartedly agree I tried to make this point to a United mate last night, he said winning it was the best moments as a fan! I tried to point out I’d rather win the league, if/when we do win I’ll celebrate like I do the Carabou cup, I want City to win everything however it is just a cup competition. No one not even Kenny Dalglish thought Madrid were the best team in Europe, he said it should’ve been City vs Liverpool. But for Courtois long studs we would’ve been there, when we eventually win it all that will happen is the monkey off our back and I’ll be pleased for our players and club but the fans will still get we’ve won it more times etc.
I honestly think once we win it we will go on to win it multiple times in the next few years, Pep signs a long extension, Haaland etc what a squad that quite frankly no one will be able to touch, I even think we will have more than United by the time Pep goes. Now that would be good.
