I expected something from the Portuguese govt to try to appease the locals but this should be a non starter. Once the club and UEFA made a statement about it being in Porto with 6000 tickets that should have been that

Remember that the Portuguese gov would have been consulted about this in advance. Does anyone really think they'd agree to 12k tickets to British fans if they wanted us in and out? They'd have said something more like 4k max.

Also, considering every single brit would have been tested the day before, and around half will have been vaccinated, and our figures are quite low now anyway, it makes 0 sense to do what they're proposing.

The locals will want us to come and spend our money!

So 12,000 English football fans all fly into the same airport on one day, are moved to 2 different fan zones, left there all day in the sun (hopefully), before being herded back on to coaches (you'd imagine) to be taken to the ground, then all 12,000 back to the same airport at the same time....Good luck with that

Fans to stay in bubble, return same day for Champions League final

English fans attending the Champions League final in Porto between Manchester City and Chelsea will have to fly in on the day of the match and will need to stay in a 'bubble' before flying back straight after the game, the Portuguese government said on Thursday.

The local bars and restaurants maybe but the people of Porto have had really heavy restrictions and might take exception to the city hosting this. Make no mistake that this is a balancing act for the Portuguese govt. They might say a few things that they don’t actually do to try to appease the public.
