Champions League Games 11/12 October '22

It does depend on your definition of pull though. It didn’t stop him or even slow him down any and he shot anyway.

It‘s certainly not a clear pull.

I don’t know how anyone can watch the replay and say Mount was unaffected by the pull back.

Instead of getting to the ball cleanly and with time, he’s off balance and falling over and barely gets a foot on it.

Ridiculous a penalty is more than enough punishment. The goalscoring opportunity red card rule should only apply outside the box

Agree with that. The clear goal scoring opportunity is restored with the penalty kick.

That’s an issue with the rules though, not the referee.

As the rules stand, it’s a penalty and a red card or nothing.

His shot was off balance and weak, barely getting a foot to it because it was affected by the foul.
That doesn’t matter. He’s not denied him the opportunity. There’s nothing in the laws that mention the eventual quality of the GSO, it’s just whether he dined him one or not.

So it should have been a penalty and a yellow card.

Shame Brahim had to go off. The only one who created a good opportunity for Milan to score. Ah well. Someone had to get the hook

Nah, he didn’t slow down imho, the ball was slightly too far away and he stretched to poke at it.

There was no force in Tomori’s arm.

Sorry but you’re wrong. The qualifier of an “obvious goalscoring opportunity” is what qualifies the quality of the chance.

Mount should have had an obvious goalscoring opportunity getting to the ball 1v1 and having a clean shot on goal, and instead he got was barely able to get a prod on the ball as he went down - an opportunity maybe but not an obvious one.

It should be common sense that the rules would not be written in a way that punished the attacker for trying to get a shot away despite being clearly fouled.

Not really the point, it seems to me. His hand's got no business being on his shoulder. Mount's past him, and the Tomori doesn't just touch him on the shoulder with it. He's insistent with it. Penalty, though, is enough. Red card, too much. Yet again, it's the rule that's stupid. (As with handballs being considered as such when the ball just brushes your arm or hand, and its trajectory is not altered at all).

Pathetic play acting by Neymar and Oliver buys it. Show boating then dives theatrically without being touched and wins the free kick off Oliver
