Champions League Groups (Update p6)

The worst case scenario as things stand looks to be some combination of:

Bayern/Barca/Real Madrid
PSG/Milan
City
Napoli/Leverkusen

Real Sociedad can also help us as they will be a bit of a wild card in the play-off draw and could easily knock out one of the higher seeds, hopefully Arsenal as that would increase the chance of us avoiding one of the "big 3" in Pot 1.

this is how the group stages are currently looking given that all the highest rated teams make it through

rather glad we are in pot 3

Looking at that, it looks like missing the chance to play Dortmund and Juventus is a decent set up, although Athleti and Milan will be hard games. All pot 2 teams would be actually, but Dortmund and Juve are better than any of them.

We will get Napoli for sure, it is written in the stars and if not the balls will be pre heated to make sure.

We definitely want pot 3.

Then again; Paris, Milan, A.Madrid, Shakhtar and Shalke look like the tough opponents from pot 2.

At the end of the day the CL is getting harder every year, top teams are scattered all over the 4 pots, and with the team we have hopefully the quality will show in the end.

Would love a trip to the San Siro to see Mario and Nigel.

Madness I know but I want a Barcelona trip, or am getting over my head there?

All this thread does is to confirm the experience of the last two years - there are some real "groups of death" possible. The balance of probabilities suggests we'll get an easier one this year, but it will be easier, not easy. Our friends from Stretford wouldn't like a group where they (Pot 1) draw Atletico, Dortmund and Napoli - but it's possible.

They are due a tough group.

If we get a group of death again and they end up with similar to what they have had in the past couple of campaigns it would be a complete joke!

But we all know that this will happen
