All about money and keeping the sponsors and tv companies sweet,just lump all the teams into the pot and draw them out none of this bollocks one team can’t play that team because they wear red or they have to play Wednesday night not Tuesday..

Just had a quick look at the 16 teams in the draw and wonder what happens if the 3 English seeds in pot one come out last ? So they could not be matched to what's left in the draw ? also, It could get ugly if Liverpool are one of the 3 clubs left in pot 2

The computer will work out that the 4th last team out can only play Liverpool

I love these draw simulators but they don’t include the UEFA factor and all their additional rules like

• Teams from same City (Country) can’t play on same side of draw
• TV pairings
• Liverpool have to get team with lowest coefficient

There are no TV pairings in the Last 16 draw, that rule is only in place for the group stage.

The only rules are:

• The 16 teams will be split into two pots; the eight group winners (seeded) and the eight runners-up (unseeded).
• Clubs cannot be drawn against a team that was in their group or a team that is part of the same association/country.
• Seeded teams will play the first leg away before playing the second leg at home.

In that scenario, the last team available that could play Liverpool would be automatically put against them.

So if FC Porto, Benfica and Real Madrid have already been drawn out against other teams, then when Bayern come out, the only option they will have is Liverpool.

So statistically, if we want Liverpool to get a tough draw, we want Porto and Benfica to be drawn out in the first 2 ties as that is when they will have the most options (more likely to avoid Liverpool).

Lowest ranked team possible, might not be the spectical some want but more chance of moving to the next round with the least energy used....it's a very long season with the bloody World Cup.
