Have you read this thread ????
Just because you aren't affected, there is no need to get all smug with your "I'm alright Jack attitude".

This thread is not about fans "leaving it too late" or "not reading the OS" but about the way in which City have handled re-locations in a part of the ground not normally affected by Cup re-locations.

There has been a distinct lack of courtesy + professionalism in the way that people have found out they can't access their regular seat.
In my case, an e-mail over the summer highlighting the issue would have been sufficient (even if I had already signed up for the CL cup scheme by then).

Likewise, for other fans...the implication that they might get "bumped" of their seats if they didn't sign up for CL scheme...might have made them reconsider the pros + cons etc.

Look, this is part of a learning curve for City (+ the fans) about some of the logistical complications that come with being in corporate dominated competitions such as the CL.

We will all be better informed for next year(hopefully)...but that does not excuse a lack of courtesy in the way that they are treating supporters who are forking out for some of the most expensive season tickets in the stadium.
Absolutely spot on mate. i have lost my seats in 204 front row and gone into the bun fight to choose a new seat. it would appear that my request for as near to 204 and front row has been granted according to my booking history, but that means that some poor sod has lost his two prime seats which he would surely have booked had the club made it clearer.
However, come next year, when everyone realises that they have to be on the cup scheme, there is every chance that i will have to relocate to the top of tier 3 for a seat and im sure that after forty years of supporting and fundraising for this club, i deserve better than that.
The cow towing to uefa concerns me as if we dont make a stand now, the next thing will be the club taking blocks 204 and 206 into the corporate area for all matches as they are such prime seats.
The split in our support on this site is worrying, no one appears to give a toss until it affects them ie munich away tickets etc.

Their is no split in support, people are having a gripe without coming up with an alternative. You yourself are saying you have been moved into someone elses seat and feel sorry for the guy. Yet at the same time your saying if people have their seats you wouldnt be happy sitting in level 3. So what exactly do you expect them to do? City have to accomadate uefa thats just a fact. So thats why its happening. Maybe you have some other alternative?

I don't think there is an alternative for those people sat in UEFA seats. It seems the club have no option but to put UEFA officials - or more likely corporates and sponsors into those seats, therefore somebody has to move. The club could have been more honest about this though.

I have a very big problem with my 'non uefa' seat being automatically allocated to one of those people who had to move, simply because I'm not on the cup direct scheme. For me, it boils down to money. I cannot afford to allow the club to take unspecified amounts of money on unspecified dates from my bank account, and because of this I'm treated like shit. All I want is a day, half a day even to go to the ticket office and pay for my regular seat as I always have done. If I don't do that by that date then I accept, as I do now, that my seat will be sold to someone else.

As this has been done automatically, I'm not going to get a chance to buy my regular seat for any CL games, even though I'm not in the premium UEFA seats, but entirely down to the fact I'm not in the Cup scheme.

to lord lewis

You raise an interesting point about next season.

If you take this to its logical conclusion, then the CL cup cheme (in its current form) may not be made available to Seasoncard holders in "prime" blocks on Level 2.

It also creates an interesting decision in working out what are the most "attractive" seat locations in the ground.

Further away from the halfway line...but you get to "keep" your seat for the big CL games.
Or...nearer the halfway line...great for the league games...but you will never get to see CL football there because of UEFA sponsors etc.

I like my seats...so won't be moving (unless they expand the corporate sections as you suggest) but it is a bit gutting to realise that after 40 years of following City (25 years as a season ticket holder) ...and after working my way round the ground from Platt Lane to North Stand to East Stand to CB level 2 etc that I won't be able to watch any CL football (ever by the looks of it) from my normal seats surrounded by my normal mates etc.

p.s. before the South Stand "dispossessed" get on my case...I am fully aware that they are regularly shifted around for FA / Carling Cup games etc to accommodate away fans.
But this has been the case since we moved to COMS / Etihad and anyone buying a seasoncard or signing up for a cup scheme in that part of the ground is now aware of this.
The level 2 relocations are a new feature of the CL and the club should have made more of an effort to let the fans affected know earlier.

You say 'What exactly do you expect them to do' .. simple, email all season ticket holders explaining clearly the different Cup schemes, and more importantly the implications of not being in a cup scheme, ie the fact you may well lose your seat. Also email all season ticket holders who will be moved for Champions league games, expaining that for them to have the best chance of getting a seat in a near vicinity they should join the Cup scheme. Having said that do we know how many non season ticket holder seats are available in the ground, and where those seats are, could we arrive in a position where even a season ticket holder is not guaranteed a home seat for a champions league game? I personally didn't even realise you could join a Cup scheme just for the Champions League, i thought it was one Cup scheme for all the Cups, this is despite me asking the question on the ticket sales line. The least they can do is allow anyone who is going to be moved to have another chance to join the Champions league Cup scheme.

In defence of City, I spoke to someone at length today about other matters but she said they have had a mare with regards to all the changes that have been required due to UEFA's requirements - the whole of the Citizen Suite has been taken plus a number of other seats.

Consequently City then have to relocate all these people and that just carries on down the chain with everyone moving away from their seats.

It's certainly not an easy situation to make everyone happy and considering it's our first foray in the Chumps then I'm sure it will be easier in future years.

p.s. Yes, I have been moved from my seat as well before anyone asks....

ive been moved because i sit on the front row of the east stand, but rom what i can make out they have moved me to the colin bell stand just behind the home dugout. the moneys been allocated for by my bank but the transaction details havent shown in my account yet. The details of my relocated seat appear in my purchase history on the tickets site, but there are no signs of loyalty points, or infact any email from city regarding this purchase or confirming where they have moved me too. it will all come out in the wash i guess but its not particularly professional is it?

I was pointing out the fact they have to move people and there is no way round that. I agree they should have let people know much earlier. The person in question i was responding to was saying he felt sorry for people losing their seat because they are not on the cup scheme, and they should be given a chance to claim it. He then went on to say that he didnt want to move to the third tier. So the "what do you expect them to do" was aimed at him. He doesnt want to move into someones seat but equally he doesnt want to move to a lesser seat. Damned if they do damned if they dont.

The problem with all this is that UEFA increase the amount of tickets they take as each round goes by.

So if City reach the quarter/semi finals and they have to give UEFA so many tickets that it ends up with less tickets going on sale than we have season ticket holders how can they guarantee non cup scheme members their seat whilst also guarentee cup scheme members a ticket. In the latter rounds if you're a non cup scheme member you may not be guaranteed a ticket never mind your own seat. It's a shit situation but unfortunately there is nothing City can do about it.

I do agree however that they could have informed people better about it.

The handling of this whole sorry episode has been appalling. No consultation and answers provided to the fans.
Who made the decision to move that particular area of the ground and blame it on Uefa.
Giving the club an out with the "damned if they do" rubbish is crap mate.
My point is proved by the fact just 18000 people registered for the champs lg cup scheme as it patently was not made clear enough what the consequences would be if they did not. i remain sorry for the guys whose tickets i have been allocated for that reason. Had all 36000 season ticket holders exercised their right to join the scheme, i and all of blocks 204 and 206 would be relocated to 7000ish seats left over. Now how can it be that i pay the most in the ground for my season ticket as i have done for donkeys years and then get moved to the worst seats away from my mates and fans i have known for years.
The main point i am making is that no one is questioning the club on this.
Take AS Monaco for example. Capacity 18000. Are you trying to tell me that Uefa demand 1500 - 2000 prime tickets ( they demand more the further you progress ) off them with their high roller fans.
Its the same every time you see champs lg on tv, English clubs abide by the front two rows not being sold rule, but foreign teams ( especially Turkey ) tell them to sod off.
Answers need providing and my " split in our support " comment stands. Just look at most threads on here.

I'm in the cup scheme and in the past have been moved. UEFA request a number of tickets off City and they ask for prime seats. Thus why some of the people in the highest priced seats are moved. I agree that they should have given more advance warning. To say its City and they are just using Uefa as an excuse is ridiculous. I'll give you another example of what Uefa asked for and got, just to show its not only things affecting fans. They told City that the press room would be too small for any big european games, so to make the press room bigger and provide better facilities. Guess what City have trebled its size and provided better facilities. Some fans seemingly just want to blame the club.

Some fans just want the questions to be answered by the Club, is that fair comment seeing how its the only part of my post you want to relate to ?
