Championship Thread - 2023/24

I get the impression some of the fan base aren't happy with the style of football at times?
There's 4 different type of fans within our fanbase at the moment:

1. Pension aged moaners who want constant fast attacking hoofball that shout "GERRIT FORWARD" (10%)

2. Prawn sandwich brigade happy clappers who accept sub-standard performances (20%)

3. Tactically knowledgeable fans that are familiar with Maresca/Pep's style of play. They understand the benefits and limitations from an objective standpoint (60%)

4. Ex-big 6 fans who became plastic fans in 2016 that believe Leicester should win the Prem again otherwise we're failing (10%)

I think every ground in the country has a "GERRIT FORWARD" set of fans, always amazes me that they'd rather go direct and lose the ball than keep hold of it. Surely if you have the ball the opposition don't?
Correct, but delaying attacks just to keep possession allows the opposition to get into position and keep their shape. It's OK when you're winning but can slow things down when you're looking to score. getting it forward doesn't mean hoofing it long and hoping for the best.

After watching your game yesterday I know what you mean, if City had attacked quicker when Chelsea lost the ball on the edge of your box you would have exposed them. By not doing this lead to Chelsea getting everybody behind the ball and defending. At times there were 7/8/9 defenders in the box, doesn't leave a lot of space for anything else.

GERRIT FORWARD for us is more of a hoof :)

Strong rumours Beale is about to be sacked at Sunderland!

Classless bastard of a man . I saw the clip of him ignoring the player he’d subbed off.

Our 13 year old was quick to spot that and say how poor that was by Beale. Horrible slimeball of a man. The complete opposite of the man he replaced, Tony Mowbray who is superb manager and top bloke who improves players with his expert coaching and encouraging manner. Always liker abd respected him - tough centre half in that Boro side that were a bogey team.

Anyway all the best to Mowbray with his health issues that will keep him out for couple of months.

Couldn’t agree more. Had the pleasure of meeting Mowbray many times when he was at Celtic and was a true gentleman

Good to know Mowbray is like that and not surprised. Just a genuine guy. It's no coincidence that City have sent players out on loan to Blackburn and Sunderland while he was there. I admire him too.

Completely agree about Tony Mowbray.
A no-nonsense player who has also made a very good career as a Manager - not an easy or common achievement.
He always appears as he is from a bygone age, as was another gentleman, Sir Bobby Robson.
Let's hope his health rapidly improves and returns to managing Birmingham City...
