Champs League Draw

I cannot stand this competition. It's like they intentionally try and take as much fun out of it as possible.

Pleased to say though that United should be in pot 2 next year if they get back into the Chumps League and we are being held back by the year when we finished bottom of our group and didn't get into the Europa league. We still have 2 more years where we need to get through the group stages and into at least the quarters before we can even think about pot 1.

So we have folk saying we are good enough to win the competion now moaning like fuck when we draw Roma...
Exactly, its rather pathetic.
Ive never seen anything like it mate
Grown fucking men crying that weve drew a team who tbh wont even live with us on the pitch

Its getting worse on here...
You know very well no ones moaning that we can't beat any of the sides in that draw, of course we can. people are angry because yet again we've drawn the hardest group possible 3 out of 4 years running. no one can argue with that and if they try they just look foolish because what a surprise we have drawn a very tough group on paper again.

If we don't get 10 points off Roma & Moscow we want shooting. Then we take 4 off Bayern and bob's yer uncle.

I'm still confident we'll get out of the group, but that's missing the point to a degree. Having to play Bayern is fair enough, there was a 2/3rds chance of getting one of the tougher Pot 1 sides, CSKA is a bit shit due to the travelling and the plastic pitch, but it's the Roma one that's really shit. Yes, we can certainly beat them, but Malmo, Borisov, APOEL, Anderlecht, Ludogrets or Maribor would have been virtually gimme's with our squad strength, and we could even have rested a few against some of those sides. Roma will be 2 tough games, thrown in amongst some tough Premier League games.

Maybe it wont be two tough games though? What if its the last group game and it makes no odds?

You think we can rely on "luck of the draw" for the order of the games after the Champion's League draws we've had?! Playing APOEL would have been pretty simple wherever it fell, playing Roma will only be potentially simple if we play them last AND they've nothing left to play for!

Arsenal will do their usual finish 2nd in the group and go out in the round of 16 to Bayern/Madrid/Barca, like clockwork.

1) Roma never a Pot 4 team, possibly the hardest we could've been drawn against.

2) CSKA isn't as easy as everyone makes out. Sub-par plastic pitches, all those miles travelled, freezing conditions...6 points are no way guaranteed.

3) Bayern. Only way this group could've been worse is if we drew Madrid but no doubt we'll end up getting them in round 16!!!

4) Platini is a nob

Rubbish draw.

Even if you ignore the fact that, yet again, we "somehow" manage to get the only tough side in the "easy" pot, it's still a shit draw. We had both Bayern and CSKA in our group last season, and this is the 3rd time we've had Bayern in just 4 seasons. It's getting a bit tedious now, I'd quite like one of the many, many other options out there if that's ok.

Getting the hardest side in pot 4 once is unfortunate, getting them twice is iffy, getting them 3 times in 4 years, after UEFA have already demonstrated their distain for our club with their borderline corrupt punishment, smells pretty putrid.

What have they got against Bayern?

The fact that there are many other options but we keep getting them, year after year. It's nothing against Bayern specifically, it's just after 4 games against them in the last 3 years I'm not exactly excited about another 2 this year again.

It should be noted that by climbing into Pot 2 we should avoid playing Bayern in Match-day 1

Hopefully we don't have to travel to CSKA in winter.

Also, anyone calling Roma shit clearly hasn't watched that team. They boast one of the best mid-fields in Europe and play a very frustrating style. Think Napoli of a few years ago, with more polish, grit and a better manager.

Though they have just sold their best CB and Strootman is out until after you play them, which is fortunate. They're a good team but you should beat them fairly comfortably I'd say.
They also lost in most of the big games last season in Italy last year: won just one of four games against the other two top three sides (Juve and Napoli) losing the other three.
