Changes in Football Since You Started Watching

And my final one. The trainer (coach) was also the physio. His fix for all injuries was a sponge and ice cold water in a bucket. Sometimes they had to break the ice on top to get to the sponge. No wonder the players got up quickly.

When slide tackling people used to be legal. Even when you get the ball these days, it’s often deemed a foul/straight red.

When penalties used to be rare. Scoring a goal used to be an achievement but with the frequency that refs like to break up play and award pens, players would rather dive and win the pen than score the goal directly themselves. In the Penalty Cup in Russia for example when Lingard was one-on-one and could have scored against Colombia but dived instead.

I remember the sheer innocence of football, before 2008. The philanthropic premier league was started so people could watch free live football on tv, with all the players coming through the academies and playing for free. There was brilliant competition every season with the top and bottom being separated by about 10 points.
Then the Sheik bought City, started buying and paying players and it’s been ruined ever since.........

The FA had banned women's football, now they go over the top about equality and diversity like the biggest hypocrites ever.

Have you thought that it may not be the same people running the FA?
