Changes in Football Since You Started Watching

We used to go down to the match with nothing in our pockets except bus fare back. We would crawl between the older blokes legs when he was paying at the turnstiles and off we ran, up the back of the Kippax. If you said, "Hey mister, can I go between your legs" these days the poor old bugger would get himself on a list.

The obvious ones are

1)move to all seater stadia
2)Backpass rule
3)better pitches
4)higher standard of play
5)people complaining about people leaving early. The busy fuckers need to shut up.

Probably been mentioned but the lack of Saturday 3pm kick offs really gets on my bristols.

Monday night away to Newcastle when if travelling by train you'd have to leave at half time. SKY and the FA really don't give a flying f@ck about attending fans.

Black football boots. Rare as hens teeth these days

Black footy boots are coming back into fashion , recently bought my grandson his Nike boots (£85 bleeding quid , but he's worth it , he's a decent player as well) for the new season and all his team are buying similar , and quite a few of the opposition players have gone back to black boots (all though they do have a silly little sock attached to the boot :). So watch this space Black is Back

Very little tv exposure back in the day so I'd look forward to read the match reports in the Pink and the Sunday papers.
Whatever happened to proper football journalists?

Drinking a flat pint of Greenalls at the bottom of the Kippax steps in the pissing rain whilst consuming a damp boiled salmonella burger , nowadays i have a reasonably decent pint at half time watching the telly and complaining about the quality of the cheesy toasty cajun wedges (in Joe's) also able to have a slash at half time without exiting the bogs with my trainers stinking of piss. Still i reminisce about Maine Road and the good old days , quite possible i am losing my marbles , it has been said.

I seem to remember only one match involving an English side appearing in a European final NOT being shown live on English TV.
Anyone help? Eg, @Vienna_70?

Yeah, you’re right, mate.

It was some little team from Manchester.

It still makes my blood boil that the FA overruled ITV's decision to show the match because it might overshadow the Chelsea-dirty Leeds Cup final replay.

Even worse than playing both games on the same night!

A guy I knew had a season ticket next to the press box at Maine Road. One Saturday, he noticed Frank McGhee, the Mirror hack, watching City's match getting more and more pissed.
Monday morning's headline: "Magnificent rags in 2-2 draw at...." by Frank McGhee.

"Proper" football journalists? They haven't changed.
