MSNBC stated after the assassination that it could have been one of Kirks supporters celebrating, they said the same thing when Trump got shot, the media is a disease.

If you say something that I don't like I do not have the right to kill you, the end, period it is not the fault of the person who is murdered it is the fault of the deranged individual who is a ****.

This isn't just in Kirks instance but any instance.

That's the one thing I caught watching the media coverage; them stating she was "beautiful". I can't ever recall a Muslim woman (or Black, even) being described in those terms.

Or maybe they have but far few that it doesn't stick in my mind!

Been reading your posts and whatever your political views, I’m not sure if anyone here is saying this murder was justified and right. I’m not, and you obviously aren’t, so that’s two of us.

But there are some posters saying it was ironic. Not “deserved” — ironic. And I’d submit because they think it’s ironic, that’s blunting their sympathy for the victim. Which is a feeling and a point of view which may be uncomfortable to some, including you.

Personally any feeling of schadenfreude that may have crept in to my own brain makes me feel awfully guilty. But it’s in there.

Sandy Hook should have been the watershed. It wasn't. They will never learn.

We live in a culture of blame, Mex! We work too hard, have little help in resources for problems, all while there's money for wars on foreign lands, destabilising those countries and forcing those citizens to spill in other lands.

It's those lands that are blaming the homeless citizens for using the little resources that are left.

Division for a reason.

All while the billionaires are safe from the fray.

All I have seen is out of context so called quotes, mainly confirmation bias, or cognitive dissonance responses, yet to see any of the so called evil things he has said. Stupid things or inappropriate? Sure. Some post lies that he wishes death to gays (has many gays friends), or supports death (he said that according to him guns save more lives than not). The whole discussion is pointless. Are we really attempting to normalise murder? It is no wonder so few posters choose to engage in the politics subforum.

There was a survey done in 2017 that estimated there were just short of 900 million civilian firearms in the world and that almost 400 million were in the USA. It’s estimated there are 121 guns for every 100 people living there.

Thanks for this response, I agree with this.

I actually think Kirk was nuts in some of his beliefs, I am not religious at all, but I have a big issue with people cheering his death. That shouldn't be on. I feel like you articulated what's going on here well, though.

He shouldn't ever been in the clink, though. You don't solve deep mental health issues with arrest, jail time and release. It's treatment they need.

Brown Jr. had been arrested 14 times and his family begged the authorities for mental health intervention.

It's hard not to say 'it's his fault', but it's not just him. The city, the state and the US gov are all complicit and one shouldn't ignore that.
