Cheapest Way To Munich

Anyone else driving to Munich and back ?
3 of us in my Ford Ka again . 894 miles each way . £200 ish petrol . £50 ferry , £75 AA 5 star breakdown cover and a free green card . Works out at £108 each .
Done Shalke , Hamburg and Dortmund this way and very much looking forward to this trip .

Just an idea & possible a daft one but, has anyone looked into hiring a plane & splitting the cost? I'm not talking about an Airbus or Boeing but more a 6 seater? Could then possibly fly from Barton direct or to a similar size Airport near Munich. Like I say just an idea & possible a daft one at that, just thought it could work out cheaper finding a pilot with his own plane.

Been doing some research. Cheapest way I can find is Manchester - Zurich with Easyjet. Flying out on 27th return on 28th. £62 is the price. It is a 3 hour drive to Munich and the cheapest decent sized hire car I've found is for a mondeo, and that's £100. So if 4 of you go, flight and car for less than £100pp. Also if you have a hire car you could drive outside of Munich to get a cheaper hotel. Just a heads up if anyone is struggling with prices direct to Munich. Let's keep this thread going with the cheapest possible ways to Munich, if you can beat it then feel free, let's get as many blues there as possible!!!

You do know that weeze -> Munich is a very long way don't you!!! I flew to weeze when we played Schalke. That was a 2 hour drive!

I will be going over the channel with a lorry driver mate and then jumping on a train if all my plans come together.

A quick note for those hiring a car; The insurance will usually have a high 'excess' and if you wanna bring the charge down without paying exhorbitant rates via the hire company then get an car-hire excess policy off the web and take it with you.
