Ched Evans - serious injury

That was my point from the off, had he of been a bin man nobody would of been arsed of him returning to work. His "talent" is being a footballer and for some reason people want to deprive him of earning his living as he knows how. Backwards thinking

It's a cruel way of thinking.

The guy when he plays football will have to deal with getting taunted, booed etc by the opposition fans anyway.. isn't that bad enough!? if he's innocent just let him play FFS dithering will only make things worse.

A man has to be allowed to make a living. And I hesitant a guess he doesn't have much qualifications so football is his only salvation. Unless he works some deadbeat job where he will be mocked..

He has to, yes.
Whether it's in football is an entirely different question, as no-one can be forced to sign him.

If he's not tried again then he's a free and innocent man and will be looking for compo.

He will be vindicated. The media have run many articles in support of him today.
Haven't read them - will do. Not true on compo though that depends entirely on why and what would it matter, he has that much cash he doesn't need the compensation so it would not be a monetary issue, his vindication depends on what comes out and bearing in mind they asked for a retrial it is clearly something that could change the balance of probability rather than being crystal clear

That's the point it is some kind of fascism if he is not allowed to play but it is some kind of fascism if a club is forced to sign him, a fan is forced to support him or s sponsor is forced to sponsor him. But surely an Oldham would go for him now?

After everything that has been written about this story and trial I still find it astonishing that the police have not been asked to explain or been questioned as to why they charged Evans with rape when it has been reported that the girl did not press charges.

Can someone explain the legal side of this as I'm struggling to see that the police didn't get this horribly wrong, because he was a footballer it looks like he was treated differently to if this had been an average Joe who shagged a bird who was drunk and couldn't remember.

The police don't decide whether to charge somebody with rape, that authority comes from the CPS who then prosecute the case.

Rightly or wrongly, the case was deemed evidentially strong enough and in the public interest to prosecute

Someone complained to the police, or told them something that alerted them. I don't think a complaint has to come from those involved.
