I'm reserving my judgement, he's never really been a 1st choice striker at this level before. I don't know for sure if it is a factor to why his performances are as they are, but I suspect in a year's time he'll be a star. One big purple patch could kick it off.Morata is not average but he's not mind boggling too. Never in an elite group of strikers and never will be. He'd never play for Chelsea if we are not living the times when top strikers are rare.
You think Lukaku is "world class" though.Morata is average

But right now you're definitely on the money. He's blown very hot and cold and he's capable of exceptional things (like his solo goal the other week), so he's got it in him to be great.
Also not having a good backup striker doesn't help. I believe Aguero's form this year has skyrocketed with Jesus arriving and being a legitimate threat to his starting spot. Not saying Morata needs competition but he needs more than Batshuayi.

Rumors of them being interested in Zaha. What would you think of that @Vialli98 ?
Costa, fit on form, is/was the way better player. Also puts fear into the defences. Morata has great technical ability but agree with you wholeheartedly, better than average, but never going to be in that "world class" category, either.
Agree with this, Morata's link up play is superb. He might score less than Costa but the players around him will score more.I'll disagree. Costa's link up and build up play was attrocious at times. The amount of attacks he ruins with his poor technique and slow thinking was infuriating. He was good at scoring goals, but so is Morata. Costa may be a bit better at scoring goals but only slightly better, while Morata brings so much more to the team in terms of assists and general play.
