They got shit from the press big time. It was before the social media explosion so it doesn't feel as verciforous as our windfall was greeted. Both Pisscan and Wenger were crying foul from the roof tops for months. I remember GPC claiming they are sending prices through the roof then he signed a no mark for 30 mill....Been thinking..........i remember going back to when roman took over chelsea and he started spending money and chelsea started winning things, did they get as much negative press/feedback of rival fans like we are getting now?
For me personally, i actually didnt have a grudge with them getting lucky with money, and it was nice for united and arsenal to have another club that could win things. At the time we werent really any worry to the big clubs, and my only hope for us winning anything was maybe an fa cup., so i actually quite enjoyed chelsea taking the title off united.
Maybe it just seems worse these days because of social media but we dont half get some serious shit on those platforms!!
i dont remember thousands of fans moaning about "oil money" back then!!
I honestly wasnt as bitter as some of these fans are now about us when chelsea got rich!
Johnny Vaughan summed it up nicely before our cup semi with them a few years ago on his talkshite show at the time. He urged a collaboration of both fans for it to show the old sky 4 were here to stay.

It also didn't help that we immediately had Mourinho who, although he was far more likeable in general in 2004 than he is now, he made us instantly such an easy team to dislike with his bravado and arrogance. We were also the first do it in the manner we did, so it was a shock to the system for everyone and we were ridiculed for years. City are in some way benefiting from Chelsea going before them as some kind of battering ram against all the viciousness.

Reading moratta is banned for the Everton game cos he got a yellow for his celebration against Bournemouth. Apparantly he put the ball up hisnshirt and sucked hisnthumb cos his wife is expecting. Now it’s a shit celebration but worthy of a yellow? What rule was he breaking?

I was just as surprised as you guys, but apparently he kicked the ball away after he was done telling the world he and his wife are expecting. I missed it at the time, but have since been told by other Chelsea fans that he did indeed kick the ball away. Shame, but silly and a fully justified booking.

Keeping an eye on Sterling this weekend, in that case. Given his incredible knack for scoring late goals this season, he is nailed on to get booked for celebrating an 88th min winner with his teammates in a orderly and reasonable manner :)
