Chelsea (a) post match thread

The severity of attacks by bluemoon posters tonight on City and Pep is totally out of proportion. If someone reads these posts without having watched the game you would swear that we were thrashed and totally outplayed by this "inspirational" (according to some on here) Chelsea team. Of course we have faults which we all know about...defence, missing chances etc. and we know that the summer transfer window will be crucial. But we basically outplayed the new Champions in their stadium for the whole game.....61% possession, double the attempts on goal and double on target and still bloody lost.....and stats mean nothing but it shows we were no way near as bad as some have stated.

If people can show a little bit of patience over the course of this season I, for one, believe the sky is the limit next season.....particularly with some proper defenders in the team.
Your post is fair, statistically correct and considered - what are you doing on a post match thread after a defeat?

Disappointing to come up short again but the effort was there for most parts of the game.

2-4-5 against the top 6 teams basically tells the tale of the season.

The summer transfer window is going to have to be our best for a number of years if we are to challenge next year.

As for this season if we don't limp into a Chumps League spot it will be a poor season but not the end of the world.

Whats shocking is the amount of possession we've had mostly all year vs our opponents, and then the amount of chances our opponents are converting when they DO FINALLY have the ball. its so obvious that our weakness is at the back. everything else up top is ready to go but pep wanted an attacking side first before reworking the defense, and this was probably for all our benefit as long as we finish top 4.

after this summer we'll see a complete, youthful team and we'll be scary. but we NEED top 4 right now. i think we'll do it, but giving so much playing time to guys navas and clichy, or delph starting is going to make this stressful.

It's amazing with how excited I was when this season started, that I now just want the fucking thing to end. I just feel so apathetic towards the remainder of the season. I would go into it but I really can't be arsed having to argue with the Pep can do no wrong brigade. Next season is make or break, the excuse of not having the right players won't be there so we will really see what he is made of. Maybe he'll even make a sub before the 80th min as well.

Thought we did OK, lots of possession again, but not good enough end product. More shots than them. It's getting old out playing teams and not winning. We can't shut out a team either. So we have issues at both ends of the field if we're honest.

Just 2 wins v the top 9 talksport just said, so I have to take my blue specs off..... that just isnt good enough.

It's annoying cos imo, this isn't a great Chelsea, champions elect side. They are effective but not a great side imo. We've just outplayed em for long periods in their own back yard. We fkin dominated teams when we won our leagues. Spurs arent much kop either, we battered Spurs and Chelsea at home.

I thought it was poor Leicester winning it last season, I thought things in the league would improve overall, Mourinho came in, spent 170m, they are ****e, we spent 150m we haven't improved much.

I honestly don't know the answer, we have the supposed best coaches now in the world, throwing bundles of money at it again will be THE answer, for us anyway. Thank god we are loaded.

An average Fergie rag side, our Mancini 2012 and our MP 2014 team would **** the league this year.

Thank god Fergie retired when he did, he'd have had another 2-3 titles in the bag, let's be honest. 2 years in a row now this league has been there for any half decent side to step it up and win it.

One huge plus point, Kompany was pretty fkin awesome considering how long he's been out, fully committed, It showed how much we have missed him.

Still lots to play for, limp over the line for top 4 and win the cup is a good first season. 5th and dont win a pot , poor season. Thankfully a good run of winnable games now in the league. We really SHOULD finish top 4 when you look at our remaining fixtures.

Some stats...

Yet, this marked two unwanted milestones for the much-lauded manager: it was the first time he’s lost six games in a league season in his coaching career, plus it’s the first time he’s lost to the same team twice in a league campaign.

PL top 4,
Chelsea (in Dec),
Spurs (tonight) & Liverpool (Oct) have won away PL games 2016-17 after trailing at HT.

MCFC last did it 1995

Get the defence right and we can sweep all before us. Without that foundation to build on we'll achieve nothing. We'll just be entertaining.

Thought just like the chelsea game it home it was a performance deserving off a win. Given time and new fullbacks i think this has the makings of a successful team

What a strange thing to say. Of course if he had punched him that's violent conduct. He didn't. BT Sport's Howard Webb reviewed it afterwards and he concluded it was a yellow card offence because there was no force applied. I agree with him. A typical Costa foul, but I wouldn't say it amounted to a red card offence
Typical Costa foul? Is that a thing now, like grannyshagger 'showing passion for the game' when he swears at referees?
Costa is a snide cheating ****. He's trying to get someone sent off every time I watch him.

So equalising before half time doesn't count?
The last time we came from behind to win was November at Burnley.

Feel the same way you do, nothing would make happier than to see Pep succeed but right now either his methods are not sticking with the players or they just don't want to give it all on the pitch for him, the new full backs we keep hearing about in the summer better be world beaters cause that's been one of the many excuses most have given for pep to have a pass this season (ours currently are shit, no disputing that)....
