Chelsea (A) Post Match Thread

Disappointed with the result but there's far worse teams to lose to, they worked really hard for their points.

Hats off to Chelsea, they hung in there for the first half and a got lucky break with the Kante goal when City were much the better team, I don't care how many shots we had because we were applying pressure against a very good team in their own ground and dominating them pretty much. I also don't know what BT were seeing but there wasn't much between the two teams in the 2nd half(most of their attacks were in fact counters and we reduced them to shooting tame efforts from outside the box and a few generous free kicks) but I guess people over compensate when we aren't totally outplaying them, teams naturally feel a little braver when they are ahead and Chelsea were no exception. The second goal killed the game, I don't think it was a corner but we should have defended it better, how did Gundogan end up trying to deal with Luiz?

Today could have been much different if we were at full strength, Mendy would have given us a lot going forward, Aguero would have been handy, oh and that fella KDB might have given them more to think about. Finally, although they didn't play badly, Silva and Fernandinho look like they need a rest, they'd probably have been able to affect the game more otherwise, hope Silva is ok.

All in all we shouldn't get too down about this, they had to get a lucky win against an understrength Man City team at the end of the day. I am more concerned that the players already look tired and the busy period has only just started.

Imagine they won it, went unbeaten and broke our 100pt record after just one seaso. I apologise for putting that image in your heads but I’m feeling very down :(

I despise the candle waiving self righteous p**ks and want them to lose every single game they play regardless of the competition. However, despite it potentally making our CL chances more difficult (given our record against them) I actually want them to go through against Napoli. As I think as annoying a bellend as Klopp is, he also isn’t stupid and will be more than aware that he’s somehow found himself mid way through the season competing with this brilliant Pep side doing the typical Pep thing heading for 95/100 odd points.

Basically our side under Pep plays at such a level and will do for the foreseeable future / seasons. We are so dominant and expert at disposing of 95% of opposition domestically week in week out. It’s what Pep does and why he given the tools to do it and he’s very, very good at it and we are lucky, blessed in fact. It’s demoralising for the rest of the league as we are so clearly much better at playing football than any of them. That said we will always drop the odd point (or 3) here and there as that is football and as guaranteed as the Sun rising and setting and that will always be the case no matter how good you may be.

Flip to pool... they aren’t nearly as good personnel wise and aren’t nearly as good or dominant in matches. And most importantly they lack real quality to fall back on when injuries and fatigue inevitably occur. YET they have found themselves rubbing shoulders at a level they probably didn’t think was possible. If they go out of the CL and they drop to Europa what use is EL to the dippers? 1) it’s a trophy I suppose 2) more importantly it’s a passage to CL the following season which let’s face it they won’t need. 3) They are Liverpool and hardly short of European success.... would winning the EL really excite their fan base? Probably not. The premier league is their famine.

At this point In the season I imagine Klopp probably can’t believe he’s actually competitive with us given we are playing to the level that Pep demands.. in fact I bet he’s gobsmacked!

Let’s face it... we are the better side and this is how we will play next season and the season after... they probably won’t. Klopp will rightly evaluate this unforeseen opportunity that probably won’t be there next season so in my opinion he’ll go balls deep for the PL.

And we must stop the twerp

I thought they'd finally got over Pep's jacket after they went a full game without mentioning it against Bournemouth, but again today, they must have spent a full 3 or 4 minutes talking about it again.

Really.
Yeah Chelsea had so many chances in that second second half, they dominated possession they had so many chances they were totally dominant, Ederson saved us on so many occasions we were really lucky to get away with 2-0 from a non corner.
Thank god it was only 2-0.
Totally and utter play outplayed thank god it was only 2-0 and we didn't take the four or five changes we had in the first half to put the game to bed.

Chelsea controlled that second half. When they scored it was no surprise. I realise it's hard to accept that the opposition can legitimately win a game because they're the better side, but sometimes it happens. And it's not compulsory to be a cock about it, even if you think it is.
