Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

I don't get Pep at times. This was Chelsea. This was the FA Cup semi-final. How did he possibly think that side could win?

Probably the most arrogant stupid selection I have seen from a City coach. Really inexplicable.

It took me a long while to forgive Pep for the Lyon game. Not his fault of course that KDB got injured but what team is he going to put out for the remaining games?
Today the FA cup was disrespected by Pep.
He knows we can't win all 4 competitions.....he really wants the premiership and CL.
The League cup would just be an added bonus if we beat Spurs.

Can we really blame him?
Yes & No.

I don’t think most are saying send him packing but Torres is badly out of form

you have yourself IF we were to meet Chelsea in the CL final - would we play that squad and system from today - would we bollox
Exactly, would we bollox.

I’m fucking so annoyed but I’m over it.

Although not completely blameless, I trust pep picked a team he genuinely believed could win with the team put out so it is what it is.
That & we have to rotate so it is what it is but the drop off in quality and mentality is insane, and our attackers need fucking shooting, but don’t let them do it themselves or they’ll miss.

Hopefully a better performance against Spurs and PSG. Three cups to play for, we can still have a fucking good season!

I've never said he's not trying but his basic ball control and running into blind alleys is not just lack of confidence surely and fair play for negotiating his own contract, agents are a blight on the game
With Sterling, it's undeniable that his form has deteriorated dramatically in just a few months (think in contrast how well he played against Lampard's Chelsea in January) but I have come to believe that some of the criticism of him is rooted in racism. Why? It's in large part because he is persistently accused of being lazy, which is a classic racist trope directed at blacks. As I have said repeatedly on forums in addition to this one, Sterling is capable of instant control, sublime dribbling skills and terrific shooting, and at the same time of appalling inability to control the ball, hopeless attempts to dribble past players, and incredible misses when presented with simple chances in front of goal. The word for that is inconsistency: laziness has nothing to do with it, and as any honest observer would admit Sterling tries if anything too hard to make up for his failings during the course of a match.

A bit of advice ...............
Don't read any of the comments after reports on the media web sites - the Trolls are having a field day.

Of course we could have won all 4. The league is virtually wrapped up. The scum won 3 when pressed all the way by a great Arsenal side in the league and FA Cup over 2 games of 120 minutes. So we had reached a stage where we just needed to beat an average Spurs team and Chelsea in one game of the cup to have an amazing chance of making history.

Instead Pep virtually wrote it off beforehand but also risked our injury prone best player too. Two of the most bizarre decisions since playing Garcia against Arsenal’s pace and his Lyon selection.

Thank fuck for that.

His tonguing of the Rags makes me feel physically sick anyway.

Every fucking Derby we hear the " They are an amazing Club, with amazing fans, with lots, and lots of history"

Then picks the worst possible City side to make them look peak Brazil.

Honestly it has made me wonder about him a few times.

He thinks our history only started when he arrived on the scene.
I did really dislike the manager saying recently that City have little history in Europe, when he should be saying that as the coach of the first team in England to win a major European trophy in the same season that it won a major domestic trophy he was proud to be aiming to repeat that achievement for the first time since 1970. Go on Pep, say it!

To me this is the pisser about today. He fielded a weaker side but still threw our best player and play maker out there. Why? If you are going to down tool to a certain degree might as well go all in.
Kev looked a little pissed off today. Perhaps because we fielded an overly weakened team in a cup semi final. 3, 4 maybe 5 changes ? but 8 ? Why so many for such an important game?
