Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

I dont mind losing to anyone but what matters most is the manner of the defeat and today this was a poor performance all round, starting from the team selection. Gutted but time to move on now, but I fully expect Pep to select Mendy, Sterling, Torres for the EFL final too.

No problem with the team selected but what an appalling attitude the team had, simply unacceptable.

That game had to be one of the worst semi finals ever seen in a once proud competition.

More fun watching a training game, the lack of desire and intensity from both sides was shocking.

I think everyone needs to relax a bit here. Our players are tired mentally and physically. They have been playing every 3 or 4 days and we just came back from a game in Dortmund with not much time to relax recover.

The lineup was decent but this was always going to be a tough game. Chelsea is no push over and they played well. Something was eventually going to give and now we need to concentrate on the league and CL.

I really hope Kevin is okay but it seems he might miss the next 2 games.

I am sad for Sterling cause he was an immense player for us, don't know what happened to him.

Everyone else tried everything they could, do you think we entered this game to lose? People need to really look at this year. Not a single week of rest besides the International break and that even had our players on the road.

Lets go get the league and CL now

Sterling’s done
Add Cancelo and Jesus to that list.

The turnaround from the start of the season was incredible and to get to the position we are with a few weeks remaining is a great achievement but yesterday showed our weaknesses in buckets.

Our first11/14 players are magnificent, but our back up players are average and some clearly lack desire, passion and the main one for me HUNGER.

Carbon copy of leeds, Chelsea set up the same as leeds and looking back as united, 5,3,2 if the opposition team is good enough to play through our press that gives them numerical advantage at the back and midfield , one deep (false 9) and a fast outlet, basically 8 at the back when we have the ball, 6/7 in the midfield when we didn't

Pep needs to combat that system otherwise we will suffer again ,Brighton can definitely do it, not sure about villa, but one thing for sure PSG can do it,

I was thinking that during the game when Chelsea countered.

Plenty of athletic defensive players who can soak it up and get it direct to the front three. Tie could be settled within one game if we aren't on it.

8 changes were made yesterday, if playing once a week is mentally and physically draining players they are in the wrong sport. I was hoping Sterling would do something, I have defended him on here after every bad game but right now as it stands he's crap.

Jesus runs about a lot but without a top class finisher he can play off,his hard work comes to nothing. I can see how he could be more effective with someone up front who can actually kick a ball.

Mendy is just not good enough.

Not a carbon copy but otherwise a fair enough assessment of our vulnerability.

I assume you must be a Chinese or Russian troll because what you describe is not what happened.
