Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

8 changes were made yesterday, if playing once a week is mentally and physically draining players they are in the wrong sport. I was hoping Sterling would do something, I have defended him on here after every bad game but right now as it stands he's crap.

Jesus runs about a lot but without a top class finisher he can play off,his hard work comes to nothing. I can see how he could be more effective with someone up front who can actually kick a ball.

Mendy is just not good enough.
We have made major rotations below and we still won. The last 2 games of Leeds and now Chelsea it didn't work. But it doesn't mean the players on the pitch are not good. They are just playing bad. Sterling is in a bad patch now so is Cancelo which I am surprised about

Mendy was immense against Leicester and then had 2 average games with Leeds and now Chelsea

Torres needs time so I can't judge him

But the rest of the players would have won this game any other time. They are just running out of energy and this is now the most important month for us. If we can get that extra juice to get us over the line and win everything remaining in this month then we are winning the League, Carabao Cup and we will progress to the CL Final

Exactly won nothing yet but gave away a comp we were 2 games from winning. Not having they’re running on empty when he can rotate so much. We completely changed the team against Leeds and yesterday so our strongest side has hardly been overworked these last 10 days.

That is what was so annoying though and it wasn’t a hindsight thing. If you’re going to start the likes of Mendy and Torres in such a big game because you’re thinking of future games that are more important in your opinion then why risk your best player who has just ran his arse off on Wednesday, looked back to his best and is injury prone?! Ridiculous decision
Mendy was immense against Leicester and Torres has been good for us as an attacker but he also needs time. Our problem is the players are mentally tired. Its has been a tiresome year and now we need to get that extra juice to get over the line!

Torres hasn't figured out our system yet on the wings (pressing and movement). He is an effective finisher, but just can't link up with the Right back. He seems to hate coming inside and is a traditional winger who likes to cross which isn't our game.

No problem with the team selected but what an appalling attitude the team had, simply unacceptable.

That game had to be one of the worst semi finals ever seen in a once proud competition.

More fun watching a training game, the lack of desire and intensity from both side was shocking.
You are absolutely fucking right.

Think that the wingback system found us out. Put any 11 and we would have struggled. They shut us down in the middle when in possession and attacked us with wingbacks.

I don't think it is tiredness, we keep the ball we win matches, let teams run against us we have problems, we conceded very few chances v leeds and Chelsea but were lacking creativity, we have finished both games very strong

Anyone questioning the desire and attitude of the team hasn't got a fucking clue, if any players showed one once of that they wouldn't be anywhere near the team, that is a reactionary comment and complete bullshit

Mate, Mendy had a good game at Leicester but that was as unusual as him scoring with his right foot. He was back to his usual shit form last week and Torres has looked poor for ages but unlike world class Raz(also shockingly out of form) he can finish well. That team looked poor beforehand and played terribly just like the team against Leeds. Difference was he could probably just about afford to do that against Leeds.

When I saw the team selection I feared the worse
I just don't understand what thought process went through Peps head
Senior players will be very demorolised after that result & performence as are the majority of fans
I just don't get it

Problem is not over the last 10 days, this has been a brutal season and don't forget the non preseason. fatigue has caught up with all the major teams.

This is also going to be a major issue next season aswell, euro's this summer, most of our players yet again will get no rest before the start of next season.

Player burn out will become an issue for all the top club sides, it can't carry on, far too many games.
