Chelsea (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Akanji and Laporte were excellent. We are blessed with CB options this season. Will be interesting to see who will start vs United. Ake may start at LB with Stones and Laporte at CB? Rico or Walker? Guess Walker will be needed against Rashford...

On a side note, what was the chance that we would play Chelsea twice, Liverpool and now probably Arsenal in the first rounds of the domestic cups? 1 in 250,000?

Great team performance against very poor opposition tbf but loved the movement and goal threat from different players.
Foden goal was best we've created since the derby.
Not sure about Gomez as a defender but no worse a LB than Cancelo.
Phillips looked assured in his Rodri tribute act.

Such a pleasure to watch that. Fantastic to see fullbacks playing the conventional fullback role. Made a big difference to creating space, and kudos to Pep for changing it.

Didn't the foul on Phil for the penalty deny him a clear goal scoring opportunity? No Red?
If it's deemed to be a genuine attempt to actually play the ball, then no. The penalty is seen as sufficient punishment. But if the challenge takes place outside the box, it could (in certain circumstances) result in a red as it's denying a goalscoring opportunity. Inside the box, you still have the goalscoring opportunity, the penalty.
