Akanji and Laporte were excellent. We are blessed with CB options this season. Will be interesting to see who will start vs United. Ake may start at LB with Stones and Laporte at CB? Rico or Walker? Guess Walker will be needed against Rashford...

On a side note, what was the chance that we would play Chelsea twice, Liverpool and now probably Arsenal in the first rounds of the domestic cups? 1 in 250,000?

Laporte can be a real asset at times..i think he is so valuable to our squad....has the occasonal f uck up but more often than not really provides much needed stability

That first half was more like it. Funny how playing in our usual formation made meant the players knew what they were doing. We would have done that on Thursday too had Pep not had a meltdown. Job done in 45 then cruised it with a fully rotated squad, couldn't have sked for anything more. Beautiful team goal for the third. Played with more intensity than we have of late which is something we've badly lacked. Same again against Southampton and get us in a good rhythm to smash united next week.

If it's deemed to be a genuine attempt to actually play the ball, then no. The penalty is seen as sufficient punishment. But if the challenge takes place outside the box, it could (in certain circumstances) result in a red as it's denying a goalscoring opportunity. Inside the box, you still have the goalscoring opportunity, the penalty
