Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Entire team looks out of gas.

None of the team besides Rodri & Khusanov had any fight in them.. we were outhustled and outplayed played from the starting whistle to the end whistle.

Shocking.. absolutely shocking

DonnaTrauma As good as he is, that was horrifying for the Chelsea goal.. Traumatic 3 chances and he couldn't save/ clear it.

I'm not giving up but we're a 75-85 point team.. that sadly just isn't enough to win the league this season! Just don't see us getting 90 points this season.

Congrats Arsenal or Villa..
Outplayed from start to finish?

What absolute fucking bollocks.

Jeez.

Whopper

Nunes
Dias
Gvardiol
Ake
Oreilly
Silva
Rodri
Doku

All these have fight in them and put in a shift, foden cherki and rudy however dont, haaland was a bit better today but hardly Dunkirk. Some needed to be rested but injuries again meant Nico and Silva had to play and we risked Rodri again(part 235)

We need 3 players min and injury prone players sold. Foden and Cherki need a rocket up their arses.

Pray for the scousers beating arsenal

Alistair Mann on the OS commentary said it: players dead on their feet, especially in the last sixteen minutes, and the entire stadium could see it.
Bernardo's face at the final whistle — haggard with exhaustion.

Somehow, we have to regroup and recover for the Brighton game. (We won't, but we have to). Even a draw would be pretty serious.
But one thing is now crystal clear to me — I never thought I'd find myself saying it, because I love and revere the F.A. Cup. But I really would bin it off this time. Or put it this way. I'd put the kids on, and to hell with it. Not one player involved in Sunderland, today and Wednesday should be playing against Exeter.
We're not lucky, though. We just get Aké back, and we immediately lose Gvardiol. We just get Rodri back, and we immediatlely lose Nico G. Does my head in.
(By the way, did we once have a defensive midfielder on our books by the name of Kova something?)

We don't have the squad depth. Had to spam out the current 11 and everyone's looking dead on their feet and now a shit load of injuries. Talking about the title was incredibly naive. Lots of old/inadequate players still to leave. Top 4, big summer and maybe next season we can talk titles. I expect a big drop off this next month as we look exhausted rn.
We do. Forest and Sunderland really pushed us physically and we just couldn’t cope for 90 mins against this young fit and talented Chelsea side. We’ve been over exerting our selves for weeks. I can’t remember when the last time we won a game comfortably. We always seem to make it hard for ourselves.

Hard to take, a very late goal like that. I thought Chelsea were quite disorganised at the back and were there for the taking. Some of our final third interplay was poor, but the press was decent. Frustrating combo.

Rodri tired and the pressure on us increased. I don't know about the league, but we just need to settle down again

Not going to fault the players or Pep for the result. The lads are absolutely fucked and were running on fumes from the get go.

But should we be asking questions about the squad ? 4 keepers, so somebody is taking up a space that could go to new signing. Phillips Stones also takes up spaces for new signings

Feels like the tank has started to empty out more than anything else. We need Semenyo and maybe another couple in January if we want to continue pushing Arsenal I feel. Injuries to Nico Dias and Josko are not good at all. We're spread too thin.

I can accept dropping points against Sunderland, but not that lot. They were there for the taking and we didn’t do it. If we could all see it coming, why can the players not and see out the game? Far too open and clearly players knackered. Phil really poor with the ball second half today. Ok there wasn’t much on the bench but at least Rico might have plugged some holes in injury time. Not sure I do see this Arsenal sticky patch that everyone talks about actually coming. What I do see is more games like that for us, like the looming derby.

Bin it off….??? Might be our only chance of silverware coz we are winning league or chumps league….

I said at half time we needed a second early in the second half.

Inexplicably Pep (and the players) didn’t respond at all to Chelseas’s obvious change of formation where they created the 4 man midfield box. This enabled them to control the midfield and later isolate Rodri. It was clear Chelsea were going to create goal scoring opportunities as a result. That’s not a good strategy at 1-0.

I’m struggling to find any rationale for keeping Rodri on for the full game. He was obviously dying at 65 mins and was being waltzed past at will.

Ake coming on was very unfortunate. He’s clearly miles off fitness, was slow, stiff and cumbersome and looked uncomfortable. Not sure there was any other option though. Lack of squad depth.

I wonder how @GX Blue feels now after saying we’d beat Chelsea and Semenyo could stay at Bournemouth, twiddling his thumbs, a few more days?
