Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Tonight just demonstrated what the squad is lacking in terms of fitness, pace and mobility.

Chelsea were shit in the first half and not much better in the second, but they kept going and ran us into the ground in the end.

If our passing game doesn’t click, and it certainly didn’t in the second half, then we give possession away too easily and can’t easily win it back because we don’t have the legs or the power in midfield.

We’ve got a lot of work to do to the squad if we’re to be really competing next season. A top four finish this season would be a good outcome.

There under 21 manager made plenty of subs we needed subs on in midfield

we needed a serious reaction to the Sunderland 0-0.

and we fail to beat a Chelsea side who should have been beaten like 3-0 and had manager getting them ready to the game who was some past City youth coach. like someone putting out the cones for EDS lol.

have a feeling Fulham will beat this Chelsea side in 3 days.

players look extremely tired at the worst moment. still lot of games in January, Carabao, FA cup, 2x CL games, and PL games still vs Brighton, rags, Wolves. thats 7 more games until the 28th. likes of Haaland, Foden and fullbacks likely to start all games probably only getting a break vs Exeter.

Of our squad we have Marmoush and Ait Nouri away. Stones, Kovacic permanently injured, and Phillips unpickable.

Savinho Bobb and Nico G injured. And now possibly Gvardiol.

Throw in he doesn't fancy Lewis and that's a hell of lot of players unavailable which means the others are overplayed.

When you look at Arsenal’s squad and the way they can rotate and just deal with injuries, we have pretty much a 0% chance of winning the title. Pep clearly felt the only chance we had was to spam the same team over and over again and just pray that nobody got injured or fatigued. In the short term it fooled some into thinking we were in the race. But it is a marathon not a sprint - a deep squad is needed and we just don’t have enough players that are good enough. As we enter a period of injury and tiredness now, we are going to slip far, far away from Arsenal. We are not at their level right now.
Unfortunately this is the reality. Because of this squad size we will continue to drop points as will Villa and I can only see Arsenal pulling away. Arsenal have Jesus and Havertz and probably Timber back soon.

I think we definitely need the lad from Bournemouth to stand any chance.... we are pretty poor, no legs at the back..Ake and the like are fked..Bernie can't play two games so close to each other again...he only had the legs to keep dropping a five yard pass backwards (Grealish like) we hardly threatened 'em... and the eitihad was the usual soft touch for away teams who should be up against it...

That was soooo predictable, and deserved.

Badly let down by the fwd players in the last two games, Haaland, Foden and Cherki awful.

O’Rielly is not the answer at LB, nor is the guy we tried to replace him with.

Nunes, Silva and Rodri very good.

forgot winning the league just look for incremental improvements.
O'Reilly has been brilliant dont be daft

Stop this they will bottle the league as if we are in position to win all the games.
We still have to travel to Toilet Lane , Old Toilet , And Anfield . And we host Villa too
No, read what people say, we are so so good and savinho will be pne of the best in 2 years, cherki is messi esque and so on, useless to give myself false hope, all can see we are far from great team

I had a feeling that playing the same team week after week was a big risk. Now our first eleven look exhausted, and the situation is compounded with injuries.

A word for Rodri. He was superb in the first half but didn't have the legs in the second half.

The main players in this squad are far too thin on the ground Haaland Foden Cherki Dias need resting, but who the hell is coming in for them ?

City has to be a cup team this season because the title and Arsneal are on another planet to us like it or not
Who is in City's 25-man squad ? 8 or 9 of that squad are not playing for reasons like injuries or just not good enough
We are carry far to many players and what for ?

Look, get them out the deadwood 4 keepers so 2 can leave plus Phillips Stones Lewis Bobb Ake Kovacic

O’Reilly sold himself massively. Awful defending from him.

But he looked fucked so, what can you say??

An absolutely fucking disgraceful result
He looked the same against Sunderland.

I think we are reaching the natural conclusion of the experiment of him at full back.

I could cut and paste from the previous 7 years, “we need a proper LB”
