Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

If they had gone in at half time 2 nil down the game changes completely. I'd wager Kante and Ziyech come off early too.

Ifs and buts mate, we lost and have handed them and our detractors confidence and a pile of ammo. Would rather we played our best eleven and won then let them worry about us.

It now means there is less time to prepare for the cl after winning the league, whatever happens, its a bad day when it could have been great.

Pep hasn’t learned a thing from the Leeds game. Theres no excuse selecting a side that played as though they’ve never played together before. Far too many also ran players continually made mistakes. Just hope the first team stay fit until the Champions league final.

Just need Pep to stop fucking about and play our best team at Newcastle as usually it’s a tough game there for us and they have hit some form.
Rags play 3 times before then and I expect them to win at Villa, beat a Leicester team who have collapsed and beat the Dippers so be just 4 behind us when we play Friday but win that and it’s done.
Reckon Rags will win all 3
Pressure back on again

We all knew that side was not good enough to beat CFC. Pep chose to be fair to his players and it backfired massively. Stupid decision, and imo a weak decision. You don't do that in such an important game.

Not true imo. Chelsea won it because Aguero decided this game was a joke and an opportunity to dick about. That changed the game right there. It would have been dead.

Yep I've put that in my summary. I still think they may have got a draw but 2-0 is s bigger psychological barrier than 1-0.

Where's the big psychological boost? They played a side with 9 changes from our best team and put together in a completely untried formation just to fit them in and only managed to beat us with the last kick thanks to some poor decisions, there's really not much of a boost they can take from that
I felt they totally destroyed us after the break and will have received a major psychological boost. Now of course they will face a different side in the Final but their system looks extremely effective to me and will cause us lots of problems. The good angle to this is that we won't be going into this in a complacent manner.

That’s two shockingly poor last minute goals we’ve conceded now to snatch a defeat.

Got a similar feeling to the derby 3-2 loss, such a poor and completely avoidable loss when given the chance to wrap the league up.

A bit unlucky today. Aguero scores the pen or the referee gives that pen and the result would have been different.

I have no problem with the team selection. It's important to respect the squad players. We would have been 2 up had Aguero scored the pen, and the team selection would have been a genius move by Pep.

At the same time, Pep should have subbed off Kun and Torres earlier, Mendy as well.

It's important to respect Kun and give him the chance to beat that record. But we played with a strange formation to accommodate him, a formation with one proper midfielder, which made it really difficult for the whole team, and it's not quite fair to the likes of Jesus and Sterling who have to both help in midfield, create chances, press the defenders and be on the end of crosses. Both performed well, but would have looked even better with a proper midfield. Pep shouldn't make it difficult for them and the other players to accommodate Aguero.

Frustrating loss, but not really a big deal in the context of the season. Let's keep some perspective.

Today showed why.. These players are in the 2nd XI

8-9 changes.. Big L in the FA CUP and today

Hope lessons get learnt soon

Stop blaming Pep. We had a solid team out there and we could have been 2-0 up before half time.

The league is won and Pep is trying something else to understand a bit more how Chelsea plays. It's not going to be the same in the CL Final. If Chelsea believe winning today means winning the CL Final they are in for a big surprise.

Pep needed to rest players and this game was not the end of the line for us. We afforded to lose it.

But that Aguero Penalty was really bad! I don't want to remember him with that Penalty! I hope he plays again and scores so that we forget about this Penalty.

Ake I thought was solid, Mendy was the problem. But definitely Dias playing on the left and Stones on the right will change the CL Final.

Cancelo was also poor today, even Rodri. I cannot put this on Pep. The players did not step up in the right way.
You cannot put it on Pep, when as he keeps saying the league is the most important well 1 win he makes 9 fucking changes, play your strongest side get the 3 points and rest for the final 3 games, but oh no he ducks up yet again

What a frustrating game. Kun should've done so much better smh.

Thankfully, we'll have Bernardo, KDB, Mahrez, Walker, etc.. start the final.

Kun and peps fault today, mendy is fucking awful, didn’t want the rags to win it for us ,people wonder why us city fans are so pessimistic today is why just gives the southern fuckers even more encouragement for final . We will obviously still win it just a dampener on what has been brilliant week

Tuchel has Pep's number, Chelsea have our number and they look very comfortable against us.

We better win the big one.

Even then, Chelsea look like more than a threat next season. We look decidedly undynamic and one paced against them.
Stop pannicking. Both times Chelsea played against a team that is far away from our best side. 8 changes in the FA cup and 9 changes today.

We deserved all we got. Today was the match to win the league, & what does Pep do? Not take the match seriously, plays a second string side, with a weird formation of ONE FUCKIN MIDFIELDER!

The only positive is Chelsea didn't seem able to take advantage until we allowed them. Up to the second half, we looked pretty comfortable. Aguero was on course to miss a sitter, but luckily Raheem came in behind to give us a crucial goal on the stroke of half time. Unbelievable seconds later we get a penalty.

What the actual FUCK was Aguero thinking! He was trying to take the piss, reminiscent of Pires & Henry's piss take penalty attempt for Arsenal! We came out in the second half like we'd just woken up & were still wiping the sleep out of our eyes! We were the architects of what took place next.

Sloppy passing. Players falling over too easily, & spending more time appealing for non fouls, than trying to win the game from a winning position! We ended up conceding the equaliser our sloppy, piss taking attitude deserved.

We then make changes, & at this point I've no fuckin clue WHAT formation we're playing, or who the fuck was playing where! I just KNEW we'd concede a winner, & so we did. We got all we deserved for disrespecting the Premier League & taking the fuckin piss with the watching public & our fans!

Positives??? There was a couple! Chelsea played almost their best team, in their preferred formation & only beat us because we took the piss with our selection & formation. If I had a choice of losing one of the next two matches against Chelsea, it would have been this one, but had we taken this match seriously, we could have wrapped up the title, rotated our players until the CL final & prepared ourselves without any pressure. Another positive is it now looks like Chelsea's involvement in next seasons CL won't be dependent on them winning the final.

So here we are again with Pep over-thinking a difficult task, but one which was difficult enough without us tying one hand behind our own backs, & shooting ourselves in the foot with the other hand. Today's defeat is ALL ON PEP! :-(

I'm fuckin pissed the fuck off. One last positive..... We've got another opportunity for ManUre to hand us the title by getting beat by the Dippers at Old Toilet. It's scant consolation, after a brilliant week was thoroughly ruined by taking the piss today. :-(
