Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

He just took a chance and it didn’t work out stupid I know but he will still have a part to play at some point

Its not a chance.

Smashing it down the middle would be taking a chance.

Trying to panenka someone is showing off, trying to make the goalkeeper look stupid by making it so tantalisingly close they scramble to get off the floor and save it.

Its the penalty equivalent of getting on your hands and knees to head the ball over the line instead of tapping it in.

I love Sergio.
He gave me the best moment of my 52 years.
Just can't be angry with him
Number one fanboy here. I absolutely love the guy, but he tried to make it all about himself, today. Especially when he had a whinge at Raz for notching off his miss control.
I really hope there's no inner Yaya stirring within him.

They wont be playing against Leicester, Another protest is planned saying (WE DECIDE WHEN YOU PLAY)

the rag fans are going to take their stadium over again.
I'd be amazed if they get anywhere near the Stadium this time round.

I would not be surprised if we hear about a few fights or a big argument after this.

There's 15 or so lads in that dressing room who have carried Aguero to the Premier league title this season. Carried him to a CL final. Hes been injured for a year and they've adapted and learned new roles and played out of position to put the team first without him.

And when he comes back and has the chance to put the ball away and win the league, get a big slice of glory scoring the goal that seals the title, he opted for the most selfish, "look at me" way possible and he fucked it. Not to mention getting arsey with Sterling for bailing him out and scoring the opener and then playing terribly in the second half.

He's given Chelsea a welcome boost psychologically and made their next month a cake walk for qualifying top 4 as well.

Theres going to be consequences. Pep can't trust him after that, the players are going to be furious and I'm devastated because its such a shit way for him to go out.

If Delap replaced him on the bench for the rest of the league season I wouldn't be surprised.
Delap would have spanked that straight into the net.

We'll win the league by Friday
We'll go full strength in the CL final.

It's days like today that show Pep which players can't be trusted and shouldn't be here.

Benjamin Mendy is a fucking fraud of a footballer. Looks unfit, unbothered, and is stealing a wage from this football club.
If it has taken today for Pep to realise Mendy is a fraud, what has he been watching for the last 18 months.

Honestly the past has no bearing on the CL final

We will still win the league

Pep is still the best

Sergio is still a legend

PS I don’t know what has gone though Aguero‘s head there...such a shame as we might not see him again.

Today on here has proved that we have developed some of the most spoilt, childish, glory hunting ‘fans’ going. We made 9 changes against a near full strength Chelsea team in a game that meant next to nothing seeing as the title is all but won. And if we’d have got the pen we should have at the end or Sergio didn’t have a brain fart we’d have won. We’ve already won a cup, have 99% won the league and are in the champions league final and knob heads on here are calling players cunts and saying the team is a disgrace. No dick heads - you’re the embarrassing ones. Yeh I was pissed off we lost but no more than we’d lost a friendly.

Our second team got screwed by an Aguero brain fart and a bent Alti fan decision, against a strong Chelsea side.

The end is NOT nigh, but it did cement a few things in my mind, and I hope Pep’s.

- Mendy is not good enough.
- Cancelo has no discipline as a RB.
- 5 at the back isn’t our cup of tea when Cancelo and Mendy are the ones supposed to be stopping Alonso and Reese James.
- Aguero & Jesus doesn’t work when they’re both rotating at playing CF and dropping in.
- Sergio has taken his last penalty for us.
- Foden & Gundo showed how First XI players can change the game.
- Rodri needs more support if you’re going to make him your most played player. Accordingly, we need a top quality replacement for Ferna to relieve Rodri of 90 mins twice a week.
- Sterling has no first touch, or second touch. Plus, when he sets off running, even he is not sure where he is going!
- Thought Ederson could have done better with both goals, but it’s hard to complain about him as a player.
- When Sterling is the Captain, it tells you how weak the team is, because it means KDB and Ferna are not on the field. He is NOT Captain material.
- Anthony Taylor and Stuart Atwell are either bent, blind, or both. There can be no other explanation for BOTH of them thinking there is no foul on Sterling BUT the foul on Jesus was a penalty! The second is exponentially more obvious than the first….but 88 mins on the clock…easier to ignore than feel like you’re deciding the match?! Or, just bent?! Either way, they should have to explain themselves AND be benched or Fourth Officialed for the rest of the season! Disgraceful decision at such an important stage of such an important game. BOTTLED!

And, just for good measure, Pep needs to realize 7-8-9 changes every game is at least 3 or 4 too many.

Being aware of and experiencing are totally different. We have an advantage in that but ideally you go into that game on the crest of a wave of confidence and for whatever reason, pep wants to keep us grounded......he talked a lot about being humble over Xmas....which leads me to think some of the players or maybe a lot of the players are/were in danger of becoming complacent.

Maybe we go into the chumps with a point to prove...an underdog mentality....I don’t know but it’s pep so we can read about it in his next book ‘Man City - 7 years of Dominance’

I can totally understand not playing our strongest 11. Certain players were never going to play.

I think the 9 changes and formation change set us up to fail. It’s too much and it also doesn’t really give the squad players a fair crack of the whip.

That said, the law of averages would suggest that we a due to beat Chelsea at some point. Three (potential) consecutive losses in huge games in such a short space of time will not reflect well on Pep at all.

Er; no. If we win one more game, it won't matter if the utd win all their remaining games, with no slip up.
You may be right , we win at Newcastle great but I see scum dropping points so we may only need a draw which will mean Mendy a fucking gain. That's enough for me.
A full team today , a win , then it's 3 weeks on the beach or at the most the final game to keep them sharp.
If the rags drop points it will be a crap way to win it, a total anti- climax. Hey ho whatever....

And if we play our strongest side after a mid week game when not absolutely necessary and Foden or Kev get a season ending injury everyone would be on Peps case giving him shit.

That was pretty much Chelsea’s strongest side barring Mount, they looked alright that’s about it. We were missing Foden, Kev, Mahrez, Stones, Zin, Gundo, Walker and maybe Fernandinho. It’s all about psychological warfare, why play our strongest side and let Chelsea know what to expect on the 29th?

We’ll be champions before we play again on Friday and if not we go again against Newcastle.

Wasnt close to Chelsea’s best 11. Tunchal made 5 changes from Wednesday and in there you could probably add Kovacic
