Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

I wonder how these fringe players think about Pep, a couple of changes and each one of them can shine within the bigger collective, but the huge changes and lack of game time together and losing can’t be good for them either. What does Pep do now on Friday, he has to give the first 11 game time to keep up match fitness, and the last game against Everton you certainly don’t want KDB and Foden getting any injuries they are our match winners. Mahrez is also on that list but at a push can be replaced, hate to say it but I’m hoping Chelsea pick up a few injuries on the way.

Forgiven Kun. Will have absolutely no bearing on this season.. bar perhaps your own personal record with rug head. And besides how could I stay angry with the guy that made the best city moment I will ever see in my life and best moment bar the birth of my daughters. Plus the pen gave me a laugh.

my take anyway...

Let’s face the keeper makes a lunge left or right which they usually do and he is the coolest fucker in the world. They go in and the commentator says what a cheeky bit of skill. If he thumped it he could still have missed.

For me, this result irrevocably severs the relationship I had with this club.

I am through with supporting City as I am simply not interested in corporate footballl when it entails playing a deliberately weakened side in this manner. This is what Colin Schindler wrote warned us about.

From now on I will follow local non-league sides near me. Couldn’t give a fuck about either the premiership or champion’s league if it gets won like this.
Haha quality, you will catch a few with that.

I really hope the CL final doesn’t go to pens! Christ on a bike that would be a hard watch with our recent record. How many have we missed in last couple of seasons? Some of them absolutely hideous misses too.

The Europa league might interest you

I think he’s proved himself at City. This humble guy doesn’t need to apologise for one mistake
Amen brother.
I was apoplectic at the time as I really wanted to win today. Title over with and a marker down to Chelsea but after everything he’s done for us I cannot find it in myself to be angry at the maestro.
We’ll win it before our next game.
I love this club.

didnt christensen do his hammy today ? would be a big miss for them

They were the better team tonight, but we did expose their weakness in behind at the back, and that was with our out of form players playing in a different formation than usual.

I think the false nine formation can work with the quality we have in midfield, But tonight’s tactic of playing a false midfield was maybe a step to far even for Pep.

I am taking tonight as a positive that they only just managed to beat almost our second team, and I still think we will beat them in the final.

Good riddance if you're even a blue.

Bollocks. You win by being the best over a season, finishing with the most points. When you win it doesn't matter. It might be more exciting to win it when you play on the day but it's nothing to do with what anybody else does or when, as long as you're the best over the season. You do know how it works, don't you?

What happens if we play our best team until the end of the season, still need the last one to get over the line and we're fuicked for the CL final?

So far we have the League Cup for the 4th time running, we've all but won the League, semis of the FA Cup and Final of the CL - so who exactly are we second class to?

God know how some of you lot would have coped when we went down to the 3rd division.
I was there mate.

Tbf, the people complaining about Pep would've been first to kick off if we played Kev and he picked up a bad injury. The league is nigh on won, calm down people. Also, Chelsea will have no experience playing against our first team

I'm glad Aguero has apologised. He's an absolute fucking legend, his legacy is secured, but he was selfish today and rightly he's owning up to his mistake. Hopefully he'll still have a part to play and if he scores the winner in the CL final this will just be a distant memory.

Pep stated winning the league was the most important price. He could’ve fooled me with this line up of too many players out of form or not match fit yet. Pretty much the same line up vs Leeds and Chelsea FACup semi. And we all saw what became of that.
But it’s the most important price, he says. why changing 9? To get these players build on their confidence? That’s not gonna happen if you miss the players around you who actually are in form. Did any of Sterling, Aguero, Torres, Jesus, Cancelo or Rodri gain any confidence? The one exception being Ake. But that’s a poor result if this is what Pep wanted too achieve.
Rest players? Why? Chelsea played 24 hrs later than we did.? And why change 9? Why not 3 or 4?
Not showing our cards? As if we have any secrets for Chelsea ffs.

Aguero must’ve picked up the “it’s not that important” message from Pep as he thought he was as clever as one Panenka. He wasn’t. And never will be. It’s not like he hadn’t missed penalties before. He’s not a great penalty taker. But hey. Whatever. We are 1 up. And 2 up can wrapp the game up. So let’s get giddy. It’s only Chelsea no?

Rubbish line up for a title winning game at home.
Rubbish penalty from our greatest striker ever.
Rubbish performance with absolutely no serious candidates proven themselves to be a contender in the CL final.

Today was all about arrogance and not bothering winning the league. That is not City.
Although I wonder nowadays. Joining Super League FA semi serious. Nor the champions winning honematch to prevent thousands of Cityfans celebrating tonight.

We had a day more for resting our players. But he, let’s take no risk. The fans will understand. Like we would’ve understand joining the Super League.

No. Can’t get my head to it. We bottled it on the night. And we didn’t need to.

Next time I hope Pep is more open and says we will not play our best starting 11. Why keep it a secret.
But we didn’t get tonked. Chelsea scraped a win playing their normal formation against a 1 man midfield and losing a 1st choice centre back to injury. Without the Alti fan it would have been another pen for us in the 88th minute. Fine margins & I now feel more confident for the CL final.
