Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

Is there any other team in the world that would play such a weakened team in a big title-deciding match a mere 20 days before a cup final?
That wasn't THE title deciding match, it was potentially A title deciding match.
There is potentially another 8 title deciding matches to be played yet, any of which could decide the title.
There's one being played tomorrow afternoon.

Chelsea didn't play there best team today. Silva, Chilwell, Kovatic, James, Haverts. They have a very good squad. I think the CL Final will be very close. We have to control their pace up front and then impose ourselves.

Maybe it will help to have to keep playing strong teams for every game.

Pep said that it can't be turned off and on and having to play to the maximum intensity for every game will help.

I agree its a tough one for Pep now does he rest players and not risk them getting injured or does he keep going full strength for momentum and to keep them match fit?

(Once the league is wrapped up)

Since Yaya left, Our penalty record has been horrendous. We really need to sort this next season. We have had six different penalty takers this season!

It's shocking. This season there are no fan's either to add to the pressure. Other teams fan's think, 1-0 when they get a penalty, ours are just expecting we'll miss. 12 yards, free shot and we shit ourselves.

A) the keeper doesn’t go into the net with the ball

B) no shit Sherlock, can’t believe Sergio is the only player not to score a penalty, no great player ever missed a penalty, arf.
1.Ffs, I wasn’t being literal.

2. From 12 yards the odds are so overwhelmingly in favour of the penalty taker he should score probably nine times out of ten. We have missed 9 in the league in two seasons.

My only post after the match is this one.

Awful fucking penalty, score and the game is over.

and

How the fuck can some **** who is paid to look at penalty decisions look at that one on Sterling and conclude that it wasn't a penalty, you absolute cheating twat.

That is it, I am still fucking boiling.

I think the problem is that he didn’t try to score but unfortunately fluff it, he tried to do a stupid party trick to make himself look cool, but fucked it up badly and embarrassingly.
We can all forgive a failure to achieve when honest endeavour has been applied but fucking about attempting a show-pony dink over the keeper when we really really needed a second goal to put our ribbons on the Premier League trophy - well that was the act of someone who put his vain-glory smack bang in front of our football club wining a major honour - he delayed or even possibly stopped us from wining a major trophy, made himself, and by reflection us, look stupid, and I’m glad he had the balls to do the decent thing and apologise.
I accept his apology, I love the guy and I happily forgive him, but I’m not going to deny it happened and I’m not going to pretend I was happy about it.

The lack of pace in our midfield and defence may cost us. Only Walker has any, I think they'll target Zinchenkos side like they did Mendy today. Ferna as DM is 36 and Rodri is like a tortoise. He also can't help dawdling on the ball at times like for their first goal today. Once he's lost it he can't recover.

Watching them closely lately I have them as favourites.

Plus the new rules make it harder for keepers to save them! For a man with a meticulous attention to detail, I’m amazed that this area hasn’t been sorted. Surely one of our players can take a penalty and if they miss still have the bottle to take the next one! That one Rodri took the other month was laughable considering who was on the pitch at the time!

Aguero will play a big part in the C/L final, make no mistake.
Furthermore he absolutely, unequivocally has earned the right to play in that match.
Not a chance in hell for me. The hunger and desire simply was not there. Tarnished is the word. if he had tried to place a shot or tried to bury it, we would not be talking about it. It was pure arrogance.

I just want to say that I am royally fucked off after today like many. Bad week for me and this has topped of an absolute mare. Maybe I shouldn't of posted what I did as it has obviously pissed a fair few people off but it is what it is. I can be a man and admit that. I love City and have done for 20 years. All I want is what is the best for them. I am no rag, I ain't mental and I ain't no troll. I would defo admit to being wrong if we won the final. I praise Pep more than I question him. I voiced my opinion when I should of obviously not, emotions are high after the game. The first place I think of coming after a game is here. Anyway, onto the final. C'mon City!

Francis Lee is still knocking around the club I'd get him coaching them. He said pick your corner, don't change your mind and hit it low and hard. If it's hard enough and accurate a keeper shouldn't be quick enough to get down to it. The best I saw do that was Cabellero against Liverpool. A couple of their penalties were spot on ( no pun intended) and his saves were superb

If the rags drop points tomorrow we'll all feel better. Chelsea now worry me a lot for the final, I really make them favourites, full team from us or not.

The fact that we haven’t won the league yet will give the players incentive to remain focused. One things for sure we’ll have to be at our very best to beat Chelsea.

I didn't realise this thread was a review of Sergio's career and the season as a whole. I thought it was about the 90 minutes this evening. Post-match thread; a thread about the match we just watched.
I agree with you.
There's a bunch of entitled, spoilt ingrates with the memory of a goldfish, and the footballing nous of a gatepost on here, who think they they know better than the best manager this club has ever had, and possibly the game has ever known and who think they can call out one of the the best strikers ever to grace not only this club but also but this league over a mistake in a game that wasn't even a must win game for us.
