Chelsea (H) - Post-Match Thread

How the fuck did we manage to lose a champions league final to that pile of shite. They needed to get a result yesterday and all they were interested in was damage limitation.
At 0-0 they had some great opportunities on the counter attack and made some very poor passes. The game was tight and such games can be turned.

They've gone backwards since that CL win. They've spent £97.5m on a forward who their coach doesn't rate, and their main defender Rudiger seems intent on leaving

Agreed still scratching my head at that final....

They are shite.
No, that’s just it, they’re not!

We are just that good!

We controlled them, snuffed them out, restricted their strengths, which are numerous, and forced them to resort to counterattacking and the long ball.

City don’t get nearly enough credit for the domination of the opposition, and the narrative always turns to “bad day at the office” for them NOT “good day at the office for City!”

Look at how Rodri is an almost unknown outside City fandom, yet he dominated the midfield AGAIN against supposed worldies!

This City team is appreciated for being “boring” and “taking the competition out of the competition,” but the key point is simply overlooked…

City dominate you and force you into submission, through hard work, quick ball movement and world class technique.

Not sure why even the “smart” pundits can’t say it as simply as it flows off the tongue..,

City are the best team to play in England in a long, long time, and most clubs simply cannot hold a candle to them.

Cue “oil money, most expensive squad, Emptyhad, never won the big one, etc, etc, etc…”

It’s lazy and boring, something watching this City team certainly is not.

The keeper actually takes a step to his right and loses some spring to dive quicker to his left so yes another keeper might have saved it BUT you could say that about 70% of goals I bet.
Those that go between the keepers legs for example are the ones that everyone says are great finishes when the reality are it was a bad shot that caught the keeper ouIt's
It's interesting this criticism of Kepa for his step to the right. What we've seen in the past, most recently against Leeds, is that if the 'keeper concentrates on his left hand side Kevin simply thumps a rocket into the (keeper's) top right hand corner. He doesn't need to think about the length of the 'keeper's arms just about where the space is!

Their fans are beyond wank.

Every club has an element they could do without but I've known plenty of Chelsea supporters over the years, even our usual postman is one, and they are fine. We sat in a cafe for a couple of hours in Porto, mostly surrounded by Chelsea fans, and they were friendly and respectful of how good our team is.

What I loved about yesterday was the sheer predictability of it. The game unfolded almost exactly as I thought it would. That is nothing to do with my ability to see into the future and everything to do with the consistent excellence this team displays. We pressed, controlled the football, defended all as expected.
lovely to see Kevin score that winner as well. You could tell how pleased (and relieved) he was and Peps words after the game were spot on.
it was good to see Rodri and Kante battle it out. My conclusion was we don’t need to bring Kante back anymore. If there are a better full back combo in world football than ours could someone kindly point them out.
Liverpool will drop points today to make it a perfect weekend.

City keep getting better at executing Pep's plans, it's great to see.

What you say there is a narrative that City supporters need to keep pushing in my opinion.

We are not seen as the most exciting team and that is true in some ways. We don't really batter teams: we dominate and suffocate them by playing a controlled but beautiful game.

I cuaght the end of the Vile v Rags game when we got back home from our game and there's no denying that was quite entertaining and exciting but the lack of quality still shone out. I like quality.

In last 2 games Chelsea played like a Burnley against us. It would be very different if Rodri played in the champions league final. This was the worst decision Pep made in his career.
I disagree because Rodri wasn't the same player last season.

Pep's worst decision was leaving Fernandinho on the on the bench i think.
