Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

This event, the death of the Monarch, is something that most people have never experienced.
A lot of people are saddened - even shocked by Elizabeths' passing.
As a nation we apparently must show to other nations that we are extremely sad about the Queens' death.
No one in authority really knows quite how to do this,, however they must do something, but what to do?
Someone has concocted this idea that we should use sport to show how affected everyone is.
Will weddings and funerals be stopped? No
Will public transport stop running? No
Will people who issue parking tickets take time off? No.
Will police, fire and ambulance services stop?
No.
But something, ooh sport, all sport, must be sacrificed on this altar of faux grief to show the importance of the grand lady who has passed.
Ms.Truss read a prepared speech yesterday and I got the impression that she didn't care one jot about the fact that the Queen had died, it sounded like she was reading off a menu card in the house of commons canteen.
Ok, the Queen, a great ambassador for the country has passed away, but there is nothing anyone can do about it at the end of the day.
R.I.P. your majesty.

Play will resume in England's cricket Test against South Africa on Saturday and the Women's IT20 match between England and India will go ahead.

Golf's PGA Championship will restart on Saturday after play was halted on Thursday.

British horse racing will return on Sunday, with rugby union's Premiership season beginning on Saturday after two fixtures on Friday were postponed.

I wonder if the PL are now thinking that they acted too hastily?

The PL have completely misread the room imo.

Of course it’s important to be respectful of those who wish to mourn.

Moving fixtures on the day of the funeral is entirely appropriate as a show of respect.

But cancelling two weeks of football isn’t being respectful to anyone. I assume the majority of the people who wish to mourn don’t need the full 10 days.

And the people who don’t wish to mourn for the full 10 days have theirs and their kids lives forcibly disrupted.

We should allow people to mourn in a way they deem appropriate, not CEO’s forcing upon on us what they think we might want.
