Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

Thank fuck we have netflix these days. Back in the day when all we were facing was repetitive coverage of the Queen I may well have joined her in that coffin. At least the cricket and F1 are on. But the football should have been played, with a minutes silence prior to games and appropriate respects being paid. My fantasy football team looked fucked though so will be in better shape next weekend and then we have our beloved international team to get behind.

It
Blame the Football Authorities, the prospect of the scousers using the minutes silence to boo the National Anthem could not have been lost on them. Those images would have gone global and been very damaging to the EPL.
Once again Scousers spoiling football for the grown ups.
would’ve been fun watching the media brush it under the rug

It is a ridiculous decision. Cancelling kids playing sport is beyond belief. My sisters club is getting them all together anyway for a fun training session which is great. Why do they think cancelling football is showing respect to the queen? Showing respect to the queen is honoring a minutes silence and actually being nice to each other for a weekend. Thankfully my local cricket is on and I'll watch that instead.

Its not about the actual football itself that I'm concerned about. Its the thousands and thousands of already struggling small businesses who rely on a match day to bring in much needed income where my sympathies lie.
That's the crux of it and that's why in a modern world the outdated notion that the man on the street should suffer because a country is coming to a standstill to mourn doesn't sit right with me.
If the train drivers/RMT/post office workers or anyone else ‘bring the country to a standstill’, which of course they never do, there’s absolute outrage.….
