Personally I think yesterday was Pellers decision. He was pissed and showed it. As I've said before I don't disagree with his decision either.

The kids where magnificent yesterday given the situation.

MdM, Kolarov and Willy where absolutely shocking and as senior professionals out there with the kids, they should be ashamed of their attitudes and performances.

I see your point but he probably did feel we'd likely be beaten anyway, as I did, so set up as normal as this is what they'll have to contend with if they are part of the first team anyway.
Mate honestly, if I were in his shoes, I'd have done everything in my power to get something out of the game irrespective of how ugly it was. This would have done the kids the power of good.

I suppose it comes down to whether you're a winner or idealist.

He came across as a smug fucker yesterday when the final whistle had blown, if he actually gave a fuck he would have at least played some of the senior players for 45 minutes last night instead of totally throwing his dummy out of the pram-it was embarrassing, the type of antics we have slagged United off for.

Correct. It is all about the manager. He is a poor one and has taken us backwards to the point where now it actually looks like the players don't know what to do any more.

Absolutely. I don't know how he's done it, but he's managed to make very good players look completely ordinary and he's managed to make the team look like they don't have a fucking clue what they're meant to be doing.

Nothing illustrates better how bad he has been for us than this from @flb ....

"United are a fucking disgrace but find themselves only six points behind us."

I was impressed by the kids and appauled at how easily Chelsea sprang our 'offside trap' time and time again. Its sad that we seem to rely solely on one individual to organize things back there.

They are playing to the managers instruction. When going back they stop at the 18 yard line. When clearing the ball they rush out to the 18 yard line. All other managers know what is going to happen and it makes it easy for them. Yesterday Willian ran through and laid it off. Instead of Demi shadowing him he stopped at the 18 yard line, allowing him the space to get in.

It's a ridiculous tactic when nobody is pressing the ball. To keep doing it with an inexperienced team is just plain stupid!

I get the reasoning behind playing the kids but not for his formation and in game tactics. Hiddink changed his midfield to reflect Chelsea's growing superiority during the game, whilst we stayed put with a midfield two who were no match for Chelsea's full strength team.

Manuel's tactics were suicidal. I'm just gutted because I saw enough yesterday to suggest we could have run Chelsea closer. We up against it anyway, but the formation just sealed our fate before a ball was kicked imo.

Pellers said he would be playing the kids before the Leicester and Spurs games. Fair warning was given on what our response would be to the scheduling of this game.

Fair enough. I still think I'd have made the team a little more competitive but results talk. If he's got two trophies at the end of the season then I'll doff my cap.

I see a manager that has run his natural course and a squad of players that contains several that are also at the end of their City careers.

I had hoped the boost of knowing Pep was arriving would have had a positive affect and that the season could finish on a real high but its looking incresingly like the exact opposite is happening.

I dont see our mnager as some clueless idiot, never have and never will but his time is up and the summer cant come quick enough.
At least your making progress ;)

That was crucial for me. Fair enough play kids if you have other priorities but give em a chance and pack the midfield.
Exactly.

With Manuel's 442 tactics, we might as well have sent the kids out with their boot laces tied together. Its hard to argue that Manuel didn't make yesterday harder for us than it should have been.

He was ordered from above to pick that team and thats the point i make.

Im not defending him any more but that was the reality of yesterday mate.

As for Kiev and the final, ive got no confidence and thats the first time ive said that this season.

The summer cant come quick enough.

Why would he take orders from above? He is going at the end of the season. IMO it was 100% his decision in picking the team and tactics.
