I don't personally want Rooney but I could warm to the idea. I think he could make the hattrick of expensive, flop strikers. But Jose seems to think he's what we need. We're also strongly linked to Higuain now.

If either of them do come we'd need to unload either Torres or Ba or we'd end up stifling Lukaku. I'm not sure what he's got in mind but if we got Rooney in and Torres out that would represent a vast improvement from last season.

In my little fantasy word I hope Mourinho is just winding United up while we somehow snare Lewandowski (going by Mourinho's comments about him in the CL). I think he'd be the perfect addition to our squad, but seems all but impossible to sign.

Personally I think Hazard will win Player of the Season.

1st or 2nd place for Chelsea.

I wonder if whichever team finishes 3rd sacks their manager? Considering how good the top of the Premier League is it would seem a bit harsh but hardly surprising.

If the get Rooney they are favourites in my opinion.

If they get De Rossi as well they have a chance in the CL.

I wonder how Chelsea will line their midfield up next season??

...I'm sure you'll have noticed where the most points have come from.

We'll have to try to do something about that!

Where did you find that mate? Any chance of posting City's somewhere?

I'm curious how Chelsea are going to line up next season with the amount of attacking talent they have. Mata and Hazard are probably certainties but wonder where De Bruyne, Oscar, Schurrle, Van Ginkel, Ramires, etc fit in. Castiel what would you guess that your best 11 will look like?

Van Ginkle and Ramires are central midfielders. Ramires can pretty much play anywhere but he's best as a box-to-box midfielder. KDB and Oscar can also play in CM or anywhere in the front 3 so the balance we have seems good.

It's hard to say what our strongest 11 is at the moment because I've not seen much of these new (or returning) players play. If Essien makes a revival then it'd be hard to omit him as well. I suspect I'll have a better idea when the full squad is reunited for the tournament in America when we'll be playing Milan, Valencia, Inter and probably Real Madrid and probably fielding strong sides.

I do know that we have a lot more utility than last season already. We could deploy a number of different styles with the players available and perhaps that is what Mourinho was hoping for as he has a tendency to adapt his strategy to his opponent wherever possible.

I always felt Mourinho had a quite well defined playing style. He had that immensely imposing and physical 4-3-3 at Chelsea MKI, then there was Inter where he developed what ended up (in the CL) being a counterattacking 4-5-1, then the rapid counter attack based side at Real with Ronaldo, Ozil and Di Maria.

I'd expect, therefore, that he'll forge a quite distinctive and identifiable playing style (though clearly there will be tactical variations based on particular situations and opponents, particularly in the CL). I'd guess it's going to be more technical and intricate than his first Chelsea sides, just based on your playing staff.

Still need to find a forward who's up to scratch, though, unless he fancies that Lukaku is ready

I reckon Mourinho will go with this as his starting 11 -

Cech
Ivanovic-Cahill-Terry-Cole
Ramires-Lampard
Mata-Hazard-Schürrle
Ba
