Chelsea Thread 2014/15

Chelsea will, without doubt, be your major challengers this season.

Mourinho now has the squad he wanted last season. Matic will be ready after a dozen or so appearances and Fabregas already knows the Premier League. Diego Costa is the "unknown quantity" here, however I have a funny feeling he will hit the ground running. Especially with the likes of Fabregas, Hazard, Oscar & Willian feeding him.

I still think they need a CB as I'm not sure Terry will be able to handle another full season as the ever dependant, but if they can manage it, they then have Zouma for the season after who will be another year more experienced.

Cech
Azpilicueta - Cahill - Terry - Filipe Luis
Fabregas - Matic
Willian - Oscar - Hazard
Diego Costa

Decent eleven that. Could even move Fabregas further forward, shift Oscar to the right, and put Ramires in the middle in place of Willian.

It's going to be a cracking Premier League this.

won't they lead the line with Torres and Drogba?

I feel bad for Torres, as mentioned his decline was rapid.
If he was a diving lazy liability then screw him but he is a good pro, never really causes hassle and tries his best.
It is hard for me to knock someone trying as best they can.

Very good team that, however I like this one much better.

Hart.
Zabaleta. Kompany. Mangala. Kolarov.
Yaya. Ferdnandinho.
Nasri. Jovetic. Silva
Aguero.

like `pool & gunners are in running. should be tight and boring when winning.... will still have "hiccup games" I reckon. They looked desperate at times last year but still beat the top teams....struggled with some non challenging teams.

Don't want to tempt fate, but I'm sure we will do a lot better against them this season.
You can be assured that we wont do any worse. Premier League, that is.

You'll get no disagreements from me on how good your team, or certainly starting XI, is.

If I was to mix & match, I think I'd probably go with:

Courtois
Zabaleta - Kompany - Terry - Azpilicueta
Yaya - Fernandinho
Silva - Fabregas - Hazard
Aguero

It'll be close this season. Very close.

Azpilicueta ahead of the best left back in the league last year in a position he can't play in?

I presume you mean Kolorov? If so, absolutely yes.

Kolorov improved last year I wont disagree, but Azpilicueta is a far better defender and performed very well last season when switched over to the left to keep Ashley Cole out. He proved he can play left back during that period.

In fact the way Atletico defended, and Filipe Luis performed, last season, I'd be inclined to have him over both (not sure why I didn't consider that in the first place).

He offers nothing going forward on that side, the balance wouldn't be there in that team, there's absolutely no width. Kolarov for me.
