Chelsea Thread 2014/15

The Chelsea team looks stronger for me and is quite fearsome. Would be surprised if they don't win the league next season. Last season City were the standout team and there was not a huge gap between the other five. The transfer deadline has not yet ended, but already Chelsea now have the strongest squad. Arsenal have a the best attack, but surprisingly they still have not addressed their defensive issues. If they were to buy a defensive midfielder of real quality like Bender, Bender or Martinez then they would be right up there.
The best attack? They scored 34 goals less than us in the league last season. They had a goal difference of +27, compared to +65 for us, +51 for Liverpool, and +44 for Chelsea. Sanchez is a decent signing, but he's not going to make up that sort of difference. Their defensive issues, on the other hand, are a bit overstated. They only let 4 more goals in than us.

Have you seen much of Fernando is he better than Matic? Filipe Luis is better than any of your left backs. The Chelsea team is younger and approaching their primes. They are also better balanced. All their players are playing in their best position. They might dip in for Pogba, but I can see Mourinho playing 4-3-3. I wouldn't better on Terry being a guaranteed starter either. Ivanovic and Zouma will push him.

Courtois
Azpilicueta--Terry---Cahill---Felipe Luis

Oscar------Fabregas------Matic

Willian/Schurrle-----Costa-----Hazard

Azpilicuteta

I think there's very little in it between Fernando and Matic, although I personally feel Fernando is much more mobile than Matic. If we're talking directly about who's better than who, Aguero is better than any Chelsea striker, Toure is better than any Chelsea midfielder, Kompany is better than any Chelsea defender...........I'm not saying they aren't a good side, there's just nothing I see, that makes me think they have any advantage or clear favourite status.
doesnt work like that
No it doesn't. It works by how they work together as a team. And I can't believe that anyone who watched both teams last year can suggest that Chelsea even come close to us as an attacking unit. You can argue player-for-player, but you can't argue with 31 more goals than them. Sure, they had the best defence, but like Liverpool, it's easy to have the best defence/attack if you neglect the other end of the pitch. Combining the two is far more difficult. How will Cahill and Terry cope if the midfielders start being given more licence to go forward?

People say that Chelsea have more talent than us in the attacking midfielder category, but where's the evidence from last season, because they didn't put it in the back of the net as often?

Your strikers scored a total of 45 compared to 19 combined for their's, so I'd say that's where the majority of the difference comes from.

I think Chelsea & City's squads are probably on par at the moment. Both teams are still looking to strengthen further though.

Those referring to City outscoring Chelsea last year shouldn't really be too surprised given they had to put up with a past it Torres, a past it Eto'o and Demba fucking Ba. You also don't want to read too much into Diego Costa's WC performances - he was blatantly unfit following his injury at the back end of the domestic season. He is built for the Premier League and could be the difference for them next year.

Hart
Zabaleta - Kompany - Demichelis - Kolorov
Fernandinho - Fernando
Silva - Yaya - Nasri
Aguero

Caballero, Sagna, Clichy, Milner, Navas, Negredo, Dzeko

vs

Costa
Hazard - Fabregas - Willian
Matic - Ramires
Luis - Terry - Cahill - Azpilicueta
Courtois

Cech, Ivanovic, Mikel, Oscar, Salah, Schurrle Torres

Obviously there could be some movement out, however I would be surprised if both City & Chelsea didn't sign a defender this summer.

I think only a true biased fan (of either club) would say their team was considerably better.

Should be very close between you two.

Not really.
Yeh you are right. A stupid thing to say. They do have Giroud upfront and their other players not as good as Chelsea or City. I do stand by them having the best 3 players to play behind the striker. Sanchez, Ozil and Walcott are the best three.

Yaya, Silva, Nasri are better for me as a trio.

Ozil tends to fade--both in games and over a season, but has his brilliant moments. Sanchez is almost world class, but you never know in a new league.

Not saying the Arsenal three are bad players. Just that as comparisons are being made between the elite, little things make much more of a difference when comparing.

Why are they not in for Vidal? A Vidal is what they'd need to stop being physically dominated or being perceived as being 'soft'.

Aguero>Sanchez
Silva>>Ozil

Can't compare Nasri to Walcott, different players. Walcott pacy and more goals, Nasri better in possession and creativity.

Until Ozil shows he can run games in the EPL, he doesn't even come close to Silva.

So tell me, how is

Walcott....Sanchez....Ozil
................Giroud..................

better then

Nasri...Aguero.....Silva
.............Dzeko.................
?

Mournino says their spending is done. Happy with that not overly worried/scared by their transfer business this summer.
