At this point in the transfer window they should be considered clear favourites

Matching the formation you've gone with, player for player, we're arguably stronger in every position bar the GK.

When you look at players in not in the 11, again for me, we're much stronger: Negredo, Dzeko, Jovetic, Navas, Clichy, Sagna, Demichelis, Nastasic, Milner, Caballero.

For what it's worth, I don't rate Costa that highly at all, I actually think Atletico have upgraded by signing Mandzukic.

I cant see any reason why they should be considered CLEAR favourites, as you put it. I understand some people think they will win it and fair enough, but there's nothing in their squad to make them clear favourites over us.

Normally, I would agree that, player for player, we're just as strong as they are.

But I think the key difference is that Chelsea's formation works far better than ours does simply because Diego Costa works better than Aguero has a lone striker. He might be just as strong and powerful as Costa is, but Aguero tends to prefer playing off someone like Costa so that he can drop deep and carry the ball. It hasn't really worked when we've tried Aguero on his own in front of two play-makers. The only striker we have who can lead the line in the way that formation suggests is Dzeko, and I wouldn't say he's quite as good as Costa at doing the same job. We'll have to see how Costa copes in the Premier League before we get a full opinion on that, but for me I'd say Chelsea are currently favourites by a hair.

I think with Fernando coming in, if we were to play that formation, with Yaya permanently being right behind Aguero, it wouldn't be so much the traditional "lone striker" as it were. I think alternatively, you could lose one of Fernando/Fernandinho and drop Yaya back central and have Aguero playing just off Dzeko/Negredo.....Like I said, I really don't rate Costa all that highly, he may well prove me wrong, but as it stands now, I can't for the life of me, see any reason to believe that Chelsea are clear favourites over us based solely on the squads.

I still think the way they play and set up under Mourinho, that they need a truly top striker and Diego Costa just isn't that. He's had one good season in his career, last season was the first time he's managed to score more than 10 goals in a season and suddenly he's a word beater? It was only 2 seasons ago Atletico were loaning him out to Rayo Vallecano because he couldn't get in their squad. For £30+ million I'm sure they could have have bought better.

That was obviously just an example to show a player-for-player comparison though. Doesn't mean we have to play that way. Obviously if both of us play Chelsea's system, then Chelsea will be better at it. If both of us play our system, we'll shit all over them. If both of us play our preferred systems......well, you saw what happened last season (when we had at least one key player missing at pretty much every stage of the season).

It looks very close to me. I think Chelsea look better overall because of the blend they have of pace, creativity, and defensive solidity. The City formation looks like it has a lot of players who prefer to play through the middle, and therefore lacks a bit of pace in the wide areas. Of course it's still a top quality 11, and I think the addition of Fernando will help you a lot against the best teams, but I would say at this moment in time the Chelsea team has a small advantage in my opinion.

The other thing to consider is that your transfer business is probably completed whereas they still have money from the sales of Luiz and Mata to fund more transfers if they want to.

The Chelsea team looks stronger for me and is quite fearsome. Would be surprised if they don't win the league next season. Last season City were the standout team and there was not a huge gap between the other five. The transfer deadline has not yet ended, but already Chelsea now have the strongest squad. Arsenal have a the best attack, but surprisingly they still have not addressed their defensive issues. If they were to buy a defensive midfielder of real quality like Bender, Bender or Martinez then they would be right up there.

Watching City under Pellegrini last season, I cant see a single player other than the three I've mentioned who would improve us in any way over the players we've got. (In a strongest line-up)

Cahill is better than Mangala. And from what I seen I'd be inclined to have Filipe Luis over Kol or Clichy. And I'd have Matic.

Have you seen much of Fernando is he better than Matic? Filipe Luis is better than any of your left backs. The Chelsea team is younger and approaching their primes. They are also better balanced. All their players are playing in their best position. They might dip in for Pogba, but I can see Mourinho playing 4-3-3. I wouldn't better on Terry being a guaranteed starter either. Ivanovic and Zouma will push him.

I'd say they have an "alright" attack, certainly not the best.
