Utter bullshit but typical FIFA. When it's a Spanish team, they'll let them basically overhaul their entire squad before the transfer ban comes into effect. When it's one of the new money teams, suddenly the transfer ban applies immediately and isn't lifted during appeal.

Chelsea will still be preparing to conduct business as usual this summer, but we’re fully at the mercy of FIFA’s timing. If the FIFA appeals process wraps up quickly (i.e. before the summer), Chelsea can launch the CAS appeal and probably get the ban suspended.

It's essentially a waiting game now. If FIFA take the full 6+ months, Chelsea won’t be able to sign new players this summer at least.

Who have you pissed off at FIFA ?

We seem to be occupying the attentions and thoughts of FA, PL , UEFA and god knows who else, so perhaps FIFA are just warming up on you.

Yeah, I'm not sure how precedent works in these sorts of cases, but I would imagine Chelsea will take this to CAS who will rule against FIFA's decision to deny transfer activity while the appeal process is ongoing.

It is worth keeping in mind that this is the 2nd time Chelsea have run afoul of this very rule (the case went to CAS in 2009, who ruled in Chelsea's favour and lifted the ban), so FIFA may have grounds to treat Chelsea differently, as we appear to be repeat offenders.

Would these ‘transfer bans’ hold up if challenged legally?

Surely it prevents innocent parties (prospective players) moving to the club to further their careers and to earn more money?

Also prevents the selling club receiving their fee and moving a player on.

Sounds like it ‘punishes’ lots of parties, not just the buying club.

Sounds very dubious to me.

Fucking loved it when Abramovich came in, he stopped the Rag and Arsenal love in - Wenger then rolling over and accepting top four for a stadium. The first two seasons under Mourinho were great to watch. If it wasn't for Abramovic the Rags would still be winning titles.

News just in: Merseyside Police have now finally concluded their investigation into the attack on Citys team coach..
It was a combination of Chelsea and City fans,and both clubs will be excluded from europe next season.
