Chelsea's problems are a little similar to ours in Pep's 1st year. They actually are playing better than I expected in the midfield. They are keeping the ball better than I thought. The problem is that the 2 most important areas (the final 3rd on both sides) they are terrible.
They get counter attacked on which tbf we do as well. It will always happen when you dominate possession, but it's how you deal with it. I'm positive Pep works on this in training all thing time, where as I'm not sure Sarri does. When PL teams counter they will play balls into channels and use high crosses. Alonso was terrible in dealing with it. This is also why I think we won't go for a short fullback, but that's a different discussion.
The other problem is them attacking in the final 3rd. They don't have good patterns of play to score. It's always Hazard trying to do things on his own on the left.
Well drilled defence doesn't mind it. Where as we use either of our 2 Silvas and De Bruyne basically as #10 to link with the wingers to find space and break down defences, Kante and Kovacic/Barkley can't. They may use the occasional fullback overlap, but it's predictable.
This is why Pep is the best in the world. He thinks about absolutely everything.
