I don't think the co comentary on the game helps. They set the agenda for the coming days discussions and back pages, eg Mane trying to take Eddie's head off 7 feet off the ground, was portrayed as a fair challenge and not a sending off, whereas Dinho is a master of the dark arts ( still cant think of anyone he has actually 'done') and Jorginho is just great at 'breaking up play'. (subsitute Fabregas if you want)
Rudigers assault was actually descibed during the game as a 'coming together' - and that set the tone/discussions, dare I say agenda, in the days after. Personally, I cant remember a coming together resulting in a broken eye socket and nose.
I like a few opposing supporters views on here, but don't piss on me and tell me raining - I had that in the Kippax.
It was far from a coming together. Rudiger drops his shoulder into Kevs face and then goes down holding his own face trying to make it look like a clash of heads. Utter ****.

Difference i see is that Fern doesn't go out to deliberately hurt opposition players where Rudiger does. He knew exactly what he was doing in the CL final and though he may not of intended to do the damage he did, he knew that what he did would put de bruyne out of the game. He was also at it in similar fashion at the euros.

Fern commits a lot of shit house fouls to break up play, Rudiger commits shit house tackles that endanger opposition players.

I don't think Rudiger does that either, and it's well established by now what my views on the Rudiger/KDB incident is. Suffice to say, I don't consider it an assault or something he did to hurt KDB deliberately. But anyway, as @mat said, it's a losing battle for me to assert that view here, so it's probably best to not address any more replies about that particular incident.

Happy to discuss Chelsea stuff in general with anyone who's interested though. We have a crucial meeting coming up in about 10 days.

As much as I don’t like Rudiger and believe what he did to De Bruyne was sinister some of the reactions and comments to vialli are way over the top. Anytime I’ve ever read one of his posts he comes across as well thought out and respectful. Of course he is going to stick up for his team and his player. We all do that but some of the stick he is getting is not on. Even still he is still replying respectfully and in my eyes is not attempting to wind anyone up and giving it the large one.

I feel at the moment As a fan base we have become quite nibbly and on the back foot. Doesn’t help with peps comments as I had a few jabs yesterday at work that I took the bait and gave some back.

and in no way do I know or have ever met vialli98. Just don’t feel the vitriol that is coming his way is justified.

Thanks for sticking up for me mate, it's much appreciated but it's totally fine. A couple of posts calling me a wum isn't the end of the world. It's the first time I've been accused of that in the 6 years I've been posting here so I must be doing something right.

I've no problems at all with you seeing it different, would be pointless having a forum if we all thought the same.

Can't say i'm particularly looking forward to our meeting after the last 3 times we've played you. Definitely got the feeling its going to be one of those games where its very tight and probably neither side really wants to lose this early in the season. Would love to think we are due one, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that and you look extremely strong as a team / squad now.

The Chelsea squad looks very good. Well balanced, strong and full of pace. Very strong at the back and some wonderful players in the likes of Harvetz and Kovacic. Up top they spent big and Lukaku will be great for them.
These boys will be the ones that will give us our biggest challenge. A big week coming up what with Chelsea, psg and Liverpool.

I'm not really looking forward to it. I thought you were due one in the CL final having one the previous two games, and I still think you're due one. I can't imagine we'll able to beat City 4 times in a row, so my heart says 2-0 Chelsea win, but my head says 1-1 or 0-1 City win.

It feels great to finally be in the conversation for the title race, having had zero say in it the past 4 seasons.

I think we're lacking some of the attacking chemistry we had last season with Werner. We don't create as many chances with relative ease with Lukaku here, but on the other hand, so far he's put away almost every single decent chance that's fallen to him. I'd love to see them both together up top but it's probably best to leave that experiment until after these next two games against Spurs and City.

Interesting observation on Werner. He reminded me of Sterling a bit last season; not necessarily in the way that he plays, more so that there was a lot of focus on his shortcomings without much praise for the things that he is good at. His goal and assist returns were actually fairly respectable given the role he was playing, just obviously far short of the sort of numbers he'd been putting up in Germany

I can see a game much like the Anfield 2018 when we were coming off the CL defeat and Pep played pragmatic and it ended 0-0 (after Mahrez's inter-galatic penalty). The difference is Chelsea beat us fair and square in the CL final, but the dynamics feel similar.

Just reading Putin's people by Catherine Belton, Abramovich makes his first appearance on page 4, bent as fuck which we all know but he'd "forced" his business partner Boris Berezovsky to sell his company including Sibneft which is now Gazprom for a mega low price. Berezovsky took Abramovich to the High Court in London, the judge hearing the case Dame Elizabeth Gloster, dismissed the case in Abramovich's favour, turns out her Stepson was paid 500k to represent Abramovich but that was probably the tip of the iceberg, more to come I guess but any Chelsea fans slagging us off as an "oil" club really need to know their facts.
