We had the same thing when Allison came back to the club. Difference being, the team he ripped apart was a bloody good side. I dread to think how many years he set us back.
He killed us I was a 4 year old I came back from my annual month in Ireland and was devosstaied I could not belive Barnes and Owen were gone
My mum had got me the white kite with the black and red strips. Summer that.

He later qualified that it may not have been their worst season ever but was the worst in terms of not meeting expectations.
If city finished 9th next season it wouldn't be our worst season ever (by a long way!) but it would probably be the worst ever in that it would be the biggest difference between where we expect to finish and where we actually finish.
1937/38 would like to have a word...

We'll have sold like 350 million worth of players by the end of the window.

I think the squad is worse in terms of names on paper but honestly things had gone so stale with some players I'm happy we've moved them on - Kovacic, Jorginho, Azpi, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic etc. This new team looks fresh, hungry and if we add a bit more quality like Caicedo, Kudus etc then we have the foundations to build something really great on.

Either way, I feel really rejuvenated watching this new look Chelsea under Poch.

And you'll probably have to spend that much this time around, just to replace some of the players gone. Who's in midfield for you right now, apart from Fernandez?

I've got Tottenham finishing above you again.

Gallagher. Santos. Chukwuemeka. Casadei. Not the most scary looking group but they'll very talented, and some potential world beaters in there if developed properly. Obviously we will need to secure Caicedo, and probably Kudus too (a combined fee of hopefully no more than 130 million). If we do that, I'd imagine one of Santos or Casadei will head out on loan.

Enzo, Caicedo, Kudus, Gallagher, Santos and Chukwuemeka is an excellent group that are brilliant now but can grow together as well.

We'll see who finishes where. Spurs are likely losing Kane.

As you say some good potential in there but not much experience. Is thiago Silva still playing? And have u signed a number 9 yet? I will definitely be interested in watching you this season got to be some transformation under porch.

I'm happy with how we're shaping up.

To avoid any confusion with fans of City, I'm not suggesting we are challenging at the top. That's just not anywhere close to realistic right now imo.

My happiness is for a fresh start, a new possibility, and some joy at watching my team hopefully growing as a unit, with young players who are grateful to be at our club. When you see players last season like Havertz scoring, but apparently not even happy, it's pretty shitty.

Where we manage to finish isn't irrelevant of course, but for me it's not everything at this moment.

Silva is still playing. He hasn't featured much this preseason despite being fully fit, so I suspect Poch just wants to have a good look at Chalobah, Humphreys, Colwill etc.

We've signed Nicolas Jackson who has looked genuinely unreal this preseason. Obvious preseason caveats apply of course but he has been utterly brilliant and I have moved away from the idea that we need pursue another striker.

It's a huge transformation. It's basically a completely brand new team with a brand new coach.

Yep I agree. It's hard to put an expectation on this team given there's so much we don't about the squad yet. Are Casadei, Santos and Chukwuemeka ready? Can Jackosn translate this red hot preseason form into the actual season? What the fuck is going on with Sterling? Can he be fixed? Can we sign Caicedo?

Totally agree with the bolded bit.
