Within the time frame that has been under discussion here as a result of Poch's comments yesterday.

I don't think Chelsea have ever been seen as the team in England apart from those first two years under Mourinho. Even when you won the CL, both times were kinda seen as a fluke and you weren't even close to being the best team in Europe on either occasion. Chelsea had much better teams that didn't win the CL in my view and I think you'd agree with that yourself.

This whole debate is a bit pointless really. Nobody sensible really thinks Chelsea have been the best team over the last 15 years, but he is bigging them up and getting the fans on board. Big nothing burger.

So Chelsea to buy Jackson for best part of £35mil, a guy who had a purple patch over 10 games but in January (with January inflated prices) was on the verge of joining Bounremouth for half that

Such a strange team, they are gonna be miles off the pace again this season unless they pull off some huge coup who transforms their season

Stupid statement in my opinion.
He is in the job of what has happened in the last few seasons.
Concentrate in the future not the past.
It doesn't matter what you have won in the past especially when he had fuck all to do with it.
3 seasons ago Chelsea had a manager who they appointed who was a winner so look to do better than him and try and keep yourself in a job for more than 6 months.
Not sure he has the credentials to be a winning manager.

You could make the argument Chelsea have been the most successful team over the last 20 years or so but yeah you're right it's a pointless debate because Poch can say what he wants to his own fans to hype us up. And anyway it was a throwaway line in the middle of a 10 min sit down interview. Hardly worth the dick measuring contest taking place in here.

Who knows!

We can only go by the facts. Chelsea fans like myself are very proud that when we've contested that trophy we've won it both times, regardless of who's managing us at the time.
Snide dig at the end there mate.

We were in the Europa in 2010/11 (the season we won our first trophy in how many years) and then again in 11/12 (the year we won the Prem for the first time ever). We had bigger fish to fry those seasons, and you fucking know it.

Yes, but once again, you had a lot of players you didn't want on large salaries that may have been an obstacle to you getting rid. That obstacle has been conveniently removed now due to the wages being offered in Saudi.

So saying you are making "losses" on them doesn't mean much. Let's just agree that the Saudi thing is extremely "coincidental" and "beneficial" to Chelsea and leave it at that without trying to rationalise it.

But again, you keep saying a lot of players but it's only Koulibaly. One player. Mendy and Ziyech were on very movable wages and had several takers each. They chose Saudi Arabia over other offers because of the money on the table. Chelsea would have had zero problems moving them without Saudi Arabia.

So Koulibaly, yes very fortunate to get out of his contract but honestly I don't think Chelsea were even thinking about selling him when last season ended and I don't think he had any intentions of leaving until the Saudi offer was presented to him. Chelsea were fine keeping him. He had a poor season but it wasn't totally disastrous that we needed to get rid at all costs. So yes very fortunate, very opportunistic but we're talking about one player here. Hardly worth engaging in conspiracy theories over one player when we can see Saudi are still splurging on players from across Europe.
