6-1 City

A few Cheltenham connections with City:

City legend Tony Book is the uncle of Robins goalkeeping coach Steve Book.

His fellow great and former City team mate, Mike Summerbee, was born in Preston but was raised in Cheltenham after his footballer father, George Summerbee, was appointed player-manager of the Robins in 1950. However,
George Summerbee left the club in 1952 after his contract was not renewed. He died just three years later from Addison’s disease, after a spell scouting for Bristol City.

Buzzer attended Naunton Park Secondary Modern School in Cheltenham where he was influenced by sports teacher, Arnold Wills, with whom he was publicly reunited 50 years later when Summerbee was Guest of Honour at the 150th anniversary celebrations of Cheltenham YMCA, to which both had belonged in their youth.

Cheltenham manager Michael Duff has two sons, Tommy - who is in the Robins' academy and supports City, while younger sibling Jack is a fan of their rivals United. Both boys were born in Manchester.

Prior to taking over as Robins boss, Duff was based in Worsley, having spent more than a decade as a Burnley player before joining the coaching staff at the Clarets.
He was part of the Burnley team that defeated City 1-0 at Turf Moor in March 2015. Seems a decent sort as this interview shows

The only previous meeting between the clubs was a pre-season testimonial game on August 2, 1994 for Cheltenham stalwart Steve Brooks

Cheltenham Town (0)2 (J.Smith 59 pen, Cooper 82)
Manchester City (2)3 (Griffiths 1, 33, M.Brown 89)

City team that day: Martyn Margetson, Dave Kerr, Chris Beech, Fitzroy Simpson, John Foster (Ian Smith 66), Joe Harkin, Steve Finney, Alfons Groenendijk, Adie Mike (Mick Brown 75), Carl Griffiths (Scott Thomas 46), Jim Whitley (John Sharpe 46). Other sub: Dave Nurse.

Scottish goalkeeper Bill Gourlay was understudy to Bert Trautmann at Maine Road but never played a competitive first team game for City. He subsequently joined Cheltenham and made almost 400 appearances for the robins

Good chance to give Torres some minutes. Hopefully Laporte and Aguero can play a part too.

I'd leave Stones, Dias, Gundogan and Bernardo out of this one, they're too important.

I wouldn't risk starting Garcia because if he ends up getting subbed for 'going off injured' with a chipped fingernail, then Barca will want his fee reduced to a 4 pack of out of date Estrella, and a half leg of dodgy jamón!
But Garcia won't get us a fee when he leaves in the summer so let him partner THB for this one.

Not sure if you made the kick off time map but it’s wrong I’m afraid.

Mecca and Abu Dhabi aren’t in the same time zone and Mecca is 3 hours ahead of U.K. time and AD is 4 hours ahead.
